Quadrum Global, an international developer and investment firm, today announced that it will soon open a pair of its New York City hotels under the company’s new Arlo Hotels brand. Additionally, Quadrum announced that hospitality industry superstars Foiz Ahmed, Javier Egipciaco, Maggie Houston, Jason Enany, Heather Berti, Katherine Solomon and Li Tang have joined the company to manage all aspects of Arlo’s operations.

The first two Arlo properties are set to open in New York City’s Hudson Square and NoMad neighborhoods. The 325-key Arlo Hudson Square will open in September, while the 250-key property Arlo NoMad will open approximately one month later.

Quadrum’s decision to self-manage the properties under a new brand is part of a corporate strategy focused on building an in-house management platform around its key portfolio properties. With strong existing capabilities in development and asset management, Quadrum is extending its expertise to operating and marketing its hospitality properties.

The Arlo Hotels operating philosophy is focused on creating a memorable, organic experience as the principal amenity. The rooms marry form and function, while raw and refined decor throughout each property speaks to an aesthetic of graceful simplicity. Smart technology enhances guest service; music lounges, rooftop terraces and patios are prime social destinations; restaurants feature celebrated chefs; entertainment includes performances by up-and-coming artists; and workshops are hosted by leaders in today’s creative milieu.

“Hospitality has been one of our core investment strategies since we entered the U.S. market in 2009,” said Oleg Pavlov, Quadrum’s founder and chief executive officer. “Given where the hotel investment market is today, we believe that self-managing our newest crop of hotel projects puts us in a better position to create value for investors and customers over the entire lifecycle of these projects.”

Seth Schumer, speaking on behalf of Quadrum, added: “In creating the Arlo Hotels operating platform, we have formed a team that reflects the caliber of experience we offer to guests and visitors. The Arlo executive team is made up of highly accomplished individuals at the leading edge of industry innovation. Their collective capabilities in all aspects of hotel operations will ensure that our new brand is stewarded by the industry’s most creative minds and that no detail is overlooked.”

Ahmed joins Quadrum’s New York office as president of Arlo Hotels. In this role, he will oversee all aspects of operations for the brand as it continues to grow. Ahmed has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 25 years. Most recently, he was vice president of Hersha Hospitality Management’s (HHM) Independent Collection. There, he led all aspects of branding, marketing and operations, while growing the brand from five to 12 hotels. Prior to HHM, Ahmed held various operations and sales positions during a long tenure with Marriott.

Egipciaco brings more than 18 years of New York hospitality experience to his position as managing director of Arlo Hotels. Prior to joining Quadrum, Egipciaco was area general manager of HHM’s NU Hotel in Brooklyn and Duane Street Hotel in Tribeca. Over the course of his career, Egipciaco has specialized in strategic operations, including the development and launch of several hotel brands. In addition to NU Hotel and Duane Hotel, he has served as area general manager for three GEM hotels in Lower Manhattan. Egipciaco also held various operational roles with Park Hyatt in New York City, where he started his hospitality career.

Houston joins Quadrum as general manager of Arlo Hotels, where she will oversee the day-to-day operations of Arlo Nomad. Houston is charged with infusing the Arlo brand’s core elements — tech-integrated service, function-centric design, ease-of-use and urban exploration — and will also focus on strengthening operations through employee engagement and creativity initiatives. During her 10 years in the hotel industry, Houston has managed the Duane Street Hotel within HHM’s Independent Collection, and led staff development for King & Grove. Most recently, she assisted in the opening of Commune Hotel + Resorts (Commune) lifestyle hotels in Chicago, Cabo San Lucas and Playa del Carmen.

Enany, a 20-year veteran of the restaurant industry, joins Quadrum as area director of food, beverage and entertainment for Arlo Hotels. Like Houston, Enany also previously worked at Commune, where he was responsible for conceptualizing the bar and dining experience, as well as the openings of hotels in New York, Chicago and Mexico. Prior to Commune, he served as director of operations at New York City-based EMM Group, where he oversaw concept creation, strategic development and day-to-day operations of six restaurants throughout New York City and Miami.

Berti joins Quadrum to lead culture, training and development and employee relations for Arlo Hotels. Over the past 10 years, she has worked in various human resource leadership positions for hospitality brands such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, SoHo Metropolitan Hotel & Residences, Thompson Toronto Hotel and, most recently, Commune.

With Solomon’s 15 years of revenue management experience in the hospitality industry, she will oversee Quadrum’s revenue management and distribution for Arlo Hotels. This includes all aspects of the brand’s revenue strategy such as the revenue tool kit, online partnerships and e-commerce.

As hotel manager of Arlo Hudson Square, Tang brings over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry to Quadrum. Throughout her career, she’s primarily focused on front-of-house operations and luxury properties, most recently holding a position as director of front office at Starwood Hotel Group’s Westin New York at Times Square.
