Like the rivers flowing from the Tanggula Mountains, Tangla Hotel Brussels brings serenity to its guests. Its elegance is in the simple blend of Feng Shui and innovation. The team’s aim is to deliver service excellence and the guest will experience an exclusive retreat for all senses in all seasons at Tangla Hotel Brussels.
”Tangla” originates from the mystical legend of the Tanggula, a paradise nestled in the tranquil Qingzhang highlands blessed by the patron saint of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains. It is believed that, as the dignified Tanggula rises towards the skies with spiritual elegance, the three flowing rivers offer abundance and tranquility below.
Tangla Hotel Brussels’ design is refined contemporary and represents the essence of the Tanggula Legend. Bright high ceilings with crafted details, hand selected original art, luxurious marble, backlit feature walls and custom chandeliers inspired by the movement of the clouds are just a few examples of this unique Oriental design.
Tangla Hotel Brussels features:
• 187 rooms, including 37 suites, among which a presidential suite (Presidential Tàofáng) and a Duplex Suites (Duplex Tàofáng)
• A traditional Chinese gastronomic restaurant, Tang Dynasty, featuring the finest Cantonese cuisine • The contemporary all-day dining restaurant LeCinq
• The TLounge, Tangla Hotel Brussels’ lounge & bar
• My Little Basket, its fine goods store
Naturally, there are also meeting & event spaces including the magnificent 440m² Imperial Ballroom. By early 2017 there will be a truly sumptuous Spa & Wellness area featuring an indoor swimming pool.
Tangla Hotel Brussels is a celebration of Chinese culture, art and traditions, paying homage to the country’s rich and diverse history in a unique yet familiar way.

An Introduction to Tangla Hotel Brussels
Tangla Hotel Brussels, a tribute to the Chinese art of hospitality, luxury and sophistication and an ode to the unique charm of Asian culture.
The double volume space of the lobby has a feature wall adorned from floor to ceiling with custom artwork by Chinese native Yang Fei depicting the natural beauty of the Tanggula Mountains.
Fáng & Tàofáng - The guest rooms & suites
The essence of the Tanggula Mountains is also woven into the guestrooms and suites through subtle impressions. Fáng is the Chinese word for guestroom and Tàofáng means ‘suite’, where Tào stands for ‘the proper way of existence’. The numbers 25 or 27 associated with the word Fáng refer to the room sizes.
The rooms are decorated in soft pastel colours and delicate wooden panels to accentuate their luxurious aura. They feature a beautiful marble desk with direct access to a media hub, a stunning 40” LED Smart-TV as well as smart light automation. For added comfort a Nespresso machine, complete with arrangements for the preparation of tea, has been placed in all the rooms. Also available are a mini bar and a laptop safe. The luxuriously appointed marble bathroom has either a bathtub or walk-in rain shower.
All the Fáng rooms are available with either a double bed or two single beds. The plum blossom, China’s national flower and symbol of resilience and perseverance is the feature of the guestroom carpets whose rich neutral tones of blue and green are inspired by the mountain landscape.
The Presidential and Duplex Suites (Tàofáng) are a lavish extension of the Tanggula pulse incorporating deeper roots into the Oriental style. Extensive panelled walls reminiscent of China’s famous Summer Palace lend themselves to modern reinterpretation in the lounge and dining areas. The art collection was carefully curated and unites China’s past and present, fusing contemporary techniques with traditional craftsmanship. Provocative, engaging, and sometime quirky selections have been intentionally infused into the design along with striking pops of colour and scale, keeping the guest intrigued and in tune to the unexpected. To remain exclusively Chinese, all artisans and craftsmen were sourced regionally across China.
TLounge - Lounge & Bar
Transitioning from polished marble floors on to vibrant carpets finds the guest in an atmospheric celebration of Chinese Tea House traditions. TLounge embraces these traditions by infusing a collection of tea culture experiences into one space.
A central bar with cantilevering counters is flushed with natural daylight from the skylight above, spilling onto colourful carpets inspired by the tea plantations found in China’s landscape. A variety of traditional and contemporary Chinese tea accessories are displayed throughout the space with an oversized teapot as the main greeting and focal point.
TLounge will surprise and enthrall with its exclusive concept of beverage culture. Amongst the great classics, the bar specializes in the very finest whiskies, sourced from all corners of the earth and a great selection of Newby teas.
Newby Teas currently offer more than 40 varieties which demonstrate how full of character tea can be. Among them are some infusions, or tisanes, which use natural, fresh ingredients to create flavour sensations. With best black, green, Oolong and white teas sourced from India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, China and Taiwan, there will always be a new recommended blend to try. Newby products have won more than 120 international awards including prizes at the North American Tea Championship and the Pentawards, which recognize the very best packaging design from across the globe.
Tang Dynasty - Cantonese Gastronomic Restaurant
Familiar, traditional Chinese homes are revisited with a modern eye creating the ideal atmosphere for the Cantonese gastronomic restaurant Tang Dynasty. Dark wooden floors and lowered ceilings set the tone. Rich, saturated orange silk wall coverings dress the walls, interspersed with rethought Chinese millwork details. Rhythm is created in the restaurant by series of screens constructed of black metal and glass insets, in homage to Chinese decorative furniture. Carpet designs symbolizing royalty and strength are woven with the reminiscent characteristics of stylized dragons, the legendary creatures.
Five private dining rooms are located upon entry, in keeping with the Chinese traditions of privacy and prestige. The largest private dining room is equipped with an Emperor’s table seating 20 persons around its circumference.
Tang Dynasty is Belgium’s first Cantonese gastronomic restaurant featuring classic Cantonese cuisine, using the freshest produce and spices, and ingredients especially sourced directly from China. It has custom designed kitchens for the 4 Head Chefs each of whom specialize in a particular discipline of Chinese gastronomic cuisine. The signature dishes are Kung Fu soup (Consommé), stir-fried lobster with spring onion, red onion and shallots (Best of the best culinary award - gold with distinction - awarded in 2011 by the Hong Kong Tourism Association), Stir-fried diced Angus beef with dried onion and black pepper, scallop and steamed pork dumplings and chilled sago cream with mango and pomelo.
Tang Dynasty will also become the place for an authentic Cantonese Dim Sum accompanied by a wide selection of Chinese teas.
LeCinq - All-Day Dining Restaurant
The prominent all-day dining restaurant is called ‘LeCinq’ embracing modern cuisine with high quality produce, created fresh daily. LeCinq takes on a unique, highly developed street food atmosphere making it a living, vibrant restaurant. It emphasizes the reinvention of the classic buffet, highlighting the excellent produce from our locally sourced food suppliers. Because food has no borders, LeCinq will allow the guest to travel enthusiastically through the world of culinary cultures, offering a sensual adventure for each and every one.
At LeCinq, lunch and dinner start at 35€ and one may choose from the buffets with salads, soups, antipasti, themed and seasonal suggestions from the Mediterranean, Argentine, Japan, China, Thailand and La Boqueria Market in Barcelona. Desserts, patisseries, fine cheeses and digestifs are presented on trolleys and served at the table. For some meat, fish or vegetable preparations on the buffet or à la carte a supplement will be charged. LeCinq also offers a Plat du Jour
My Little Basket and other shops
Tangla Hotel Brussels also introduces a very original store concept; My Little Basket. This is a hybrid shop comprising a delicatessen and the personification of the hotel room service menu. At My Little Basket the guest can either buy the food on the go, or order it to be served in the privacy of their room. My Little basket is a satellite of the restaurant LeCinq, using the same producers and the same delicious and daily, fresh produce. My Little Basket offers simple and homemade meals, matching all tastes. The food suggestions change almost daily. The shop is furnished in wood, demonstrating the affinity for natural products and for simplicity.
Tangla Hotel Brussels will soon have other shops, notably Tollet watches and The Diamond Factory jewellery.
Meeting & Event spaces and the Imperial Ballroom
Auspicious clouds are a key notion in Chinese culture and are the symbol of blessing and good luck, hence their importance within the event spaces and the Imperial Ballroom. The carpets throughout these areas are a collection of these “lucky” clouds, continually changing shape and tone. The Imperial Ballroom chandelier is an even more glamorous concept – 29,000 individual Zonka crystals forming a silhouetted composition of their shapes.
A collection of Chinese artefacts reinterpreted or used in the original forms are placed around the space as freestanding sculptures or wall art, propelling the guest through their journey of the East.
In total 6 very sophisticated meeting and event spaces offer a maximum flexibility, from the 440 m2 Imperial Ballroom with a 6-metre high ceiling, to the Royal room, which can be divided into three separate spaces. There are also two elegant private boardrooms called The Confidential and The Discreet; carefully chosen names for intimacy, privacy and prestige.
Alongside the advanced meeting and events facilities available to accommodate any request, Tangla Hotel Brussels offers a very large wooden deck terrace as well as a pre-function area to be used as an exhibition space, for coffee breaks, cocktail receptions or banquets.
Soon to come: A Spa & Wellness centre and a Karaoke room
By early 2017, Tangla Hotel Brussels will open its 1000m² Spa & Wellness centre, complete with an indoor swimming pool and fitness room.
Hirsch Bedner Associates – interior design
The hotel was designed by the award-winning agency Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), interior designer for Nuo Beijing, the Ritz Carlton Galaxy Macao, the Marina Bay Sands, the Encore Wynn Las Vegas and many more.
It was the vision of Belgian native, David T’Kint, to bring the ornamented beauty of Chinese culture and folklore to Belgium. This HBA Dubai-based partner, who previously lived in Shanghai and Singapore, was excited by the opportunity to translate his vision of contemporary Chinese culture into a European hotel.
The key team members, led by David, include art consultant Malorie Fourrier and Interior Designers Leo Wang and Shawna McFee.
With bright high ceilings with crafted details, hand selected original art, luxurious marble, feature backlit walls, and custom chandeliers; Tangla Hotel Brussels is a subtle reinterpretation of Tangla Hotel Beijing, the first Tangla hotel by the HNA family.
Tangla Hotels & Resorts
Tangla Brand – Origin
The word Nyenchen Tanglha (Nyainqentanglha) originates from a beautiful legend from the Tanggula (Dangla) Mountains, painting a majestic picture of man and nature co-existing in harmony. “The Tanggula rises up into the skies high, majestic and free; three rivers ooze out to give abundance along their way”. The Tanggula towers over the 5,000 metre high plateau, majestic and holy, rich with milk and honey. The pure snow thaws and fuses into the life waters of the three rivers, fostering the magnificent civilizations of Cathay and nurturing her children for generations and generations.
For thousands of years, Nyainqentanglha has kept company with the Tanggula (Dangla) Mountains winding and zigzagging for hundreds of kilometres, where the Kunlun Mountains keep watch for the kind and the virtuous, with crystal clear waters running to endow us with this land of bounty.
Today HNA Hotels & Resorts aspires to deliver an aspiration for life and nature to all corners of modern society just like those people in the holy mountains. The Tangla Hotels & Resorts will be the ideal place to meet for guests and friends from all over the world, where you will feel at ease and at peace, relaxed and refreshed; you will be completely yourself again.
Tangla Brand Vision
Harmony - Crystallizing into an attitude of peaceful co-existence between people as well as between man and nature. A sage saying: “The wise love waters; the benevolent mountains.” Mountains are sturdy and upright; waters lively and tolerant. One is dynamic while the other quiet, constituting the utmost harmony in the world of nature. For both their guests and staff, Tangla Hotels & Resorts is in pursuit of a natural environment of harmony care and consideration, with magnanimity and amenity wherever you are.
Elegance - Perpetual beauty lasting beyond time and space is a representation of unremitting aspiration to taste and grace. Elegance is in the air at Tangla Hotels & Resorts everywhere, inheriting the essence of Oriental culture and excellence.
Excellence - One of the four pillars of Hainan Airlines corporate culture (Sincerity, Benevolence, Excellence and Beauty), embodying sincere hospitality, social accountability, and pursuit of excellence in Tangla Hotels & Resorts. Striving for excellence and continuous improvement, Tangla selects its sites in major frontline cities of China and prime spots in core tourist destinations, with dedicated world-class facilities and services committed to giving their guests an excellent experience that exceeds imagination and expectation.
Peaceful - It’s a kind of enjoyment, but more a state of mind. The ancients used to say: “A lesser hermit would retire into the mountains and forests, while a great one into the court or market.” A true hermit would be able to hear the voice of his own heart even when he is in a noisy market or in the vortex of entangling current affairs. Tangla Hotels & Resorts advocates a lifestyle of “retiring into the court”, where you get peace from noise and give your soul a rest, “a quiet oasis in noisy streets”.
