RIU opens its second resort in Cape Verde

ClubHotel Riu Garopa’s 500 guestrooms double the chain’s capacity on the Island of Sal
The inauguration of ClubHotel Riu Garopa, the Riu chain’s second establishment on the island of Sal in the African archipelago of Cape Verde, is scheduled for October 27. The new hotel will be located next to ClubHotel Riu Funaná.

The two establishments have 500 guestrooms each and together will form one large 5-star all-inclusive holiday resort set right on the beachfront.

"Garopa" refers to a local fish which is a jewel in Cape Verde’s cuisine and “Funaná” is the name of one of the island’s most famous folk dances.

ClubHotel Riu Funaná, which opened in 2005, has already garnered international acclaim thanks to its first-class facilities, striking architectural design, varied cuisine, appealing entertainment and activities programme and extensive sport offer.

With the inauguration of the new Clubhotel, guests at both resorts will be able to enjoy up four theme restaurants as part of the all-inclusive formula: Cape Verde cuisine, Grill, Asian cuisine and Rodizio (meats prepared Brazilian style).
