Our guests are invited to step back through time and experience the style, decor and sumptuous lifestyle of a bygone age in two extraordinary and spectacular hotels, each of which blends a rich past with contemporary charm.

Making a mark on history: Castle Hotel Windsor

This newly refurbished hotel in the MGallery by Sofitel collection puts you mere footsteps from Her Majesty the Queen's favourite residence. Immerse yourself in the hotel's history: from the day it was built in 1528 as the Mermaid Inn, humbly brewing beer and cider for the people of Windsor, through to the first of the eight Royal Warrants awarded to the hotel in the 1700s to provide horses and carriages for the royal household – to the 19th century when Castle Hotel was unrivalled as the finest place to stay for miles around.

The elegant details and subtle references to this rich and colourful past only serve to further intrigue and entice Castle Hotel's guests. Its history and unique personality can be felt in each of the hotel's 108 bedrooms and suites, as well as in its communal spaces, including the stunning library area and exquisite restaurant.

Reviving the source of Her heritage: Queens Hotel Cheltenham

If Queens Hotel had to be described in one word, it would be... spectacular. The hotel's impressive neo-classic architecture and incredible history continue to fascinate and inspire to this day.

Initially built on the site of the Sherborne Spa and named after Queen Victoria, Queens Hotel opened to the public on the day of the Queen's coronation in 1838.
The minute guests pass through the hotel doors, their breath is taken away by opulent design and intricate attention to detail. The historic wallpaper, designed by Augustus Pugin and famous for adorning the Palace of Westminster, Pugin's most famous project, dovetails perfectly with the hotel's tastefully contemporary decor. And guests can rarely resist climbing the grand staircase to explore Queens Hotel's 84 charming rooms.

An essential part of soaking up the hotel's friendly atmosphere and charm is selecting a dish from one of the traditional menus, full of the finest fresh, local produce – or sipping a drink at the Sherborne Pump, the hotel's stunningly ornate bar.

Once again, MGallery by Sofitel has designed two magnificent hotels, brimming with fascinating history, ambiance and charm. Guests are sure to be enchanted, transported… and treated like royalty!
