Welf Ebeling, executive vice president and chief
operating officer of The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., has announced the
appointment of veteran American hotelier Betty J. Ozaki to the post of regional director of
the company’s Tokyo sales office, effective October 2, 2006.
Formerly the director of sales at Halekulani in Honolulu, Hawaii, Ms. Ozaki will be
responsible for the development and execution of ongoing marketing strategies and
reservations services in the Japanese market for The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.
Headquartered in New York City, the 78-year-old organization represents more than 430
luxury hotels, resorts and spas around the world, each traditionally the finest properties in
its respective location.
Ms. Ozaki began her career in the hospitality industry at the front desk of Halekulani in
1986, after serving for many years as a consultant for Japanese interests acquiring
Hawaiian real estate in the 1970s and 80s. During her two decades at the hotel, she held
posts as concierge, guest services manager, director of international sales, and director of
rooms, and in 2001 she was named director of sales for the 455-room landmark Waikiki
property.
