Nick Clayton has joined the Kor Group as President, taking the spot left vacant by John Arnett a few months ago. Since the summer of 2001, Clayton was with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as the Operations Director for Asia and Europe. He was hired by Mandarin Oriental as he was concluding a thirteen-year career with Ritz-Carlton as the General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore.
Meg Crofton has been named President of Walt Disney World, taking over for Al Weiss who becomes President of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Crofton has been with Disney for twenty-seven years.
Christian Hempell has been appointed Vice President, Strategy - The Americas - for InterContinental Hotels Group to be based in Atlanta. Hempell was most recently based in London for IHG as their VP Global Strategy. He is a Cornell graduate.
Rudy Sharp has taken on added responsibility for Centex Destination Properties as Area Manager Central Region. He is now responsible for three resort communities: Pointe West, The Waters at Horseshoe Bay and The Hollows at Lake Travis where he has been the Resort General Manager since May 2005. Prior to joining Centex, Sharp was the Managing Director at The Depot in Minneapolis and the General Manager at the Magnolia Hotel in Dallas.
Rob Goldberg has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tim Harmon's Moana Hotel and Restaurant Group in Mill Valley. The group includes the Piatti restaurants, Redd, Paragon and El Dorado Kitchen. For the past six years, Goldberg was with Gordon Getty's and (San Francisco Mayor) Gavin Newsom's PlumpJack Group as Chief Executive Officer.
Lausanne graduate Christian Clerc, General Manager of the Four Seasons Punta Mita since November 2003, has been promoted to Regional Vice President with responsibility over Mexico.
Edward Steiner has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Latin America and the Caribbean for One&Only Resorts while continuing as Managing Director of the One&Only Palmilla. He joined Palmilla in May 2003 after overseeing Rosewood's Las Ventanas al Para’so for almost seven years.
Radisson Hotels and Resorts International Latin America has appointed Denise Estefan Litten to the position of President. Litten, a Cornell graduate, has served as Vice President of Radisson Hotels and Resorts Latin America for the past four years.
Yves Gerondeau has been appointed General Manager at the hip Faena Hotel & Universe in Buenos Aires, replacing Denis Gruhier. Gerondeau joins from the Ritz-Carlton Santiago, where he was the Hotel Manager.
Gregory Sheets has joined Pechanga Hotel and Casino in North San Diego County as Vice President Hotel Operations. He was most recently in the same position at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. In addition, Sheets was the opening Director of Hotel Operations at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, following nine years with Four Seasons in Los Angeles, Dallas, Las Vegas, Palm Beach and Maui. Sheets is a Cornell graduate.
Bill Linehan rejoins InterContinental as Vice President, Marketing and New Business Development to be based in Atlanta. Most recently, Linehan was with Starwood as the Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Development Partnerships. He was previously with InterContinental as the company's Director of the New York City-based worldwide sales team.
Bryan O'Shields has left the Barish Group to come home to Las Vegas as Corporate Senior Director of Food and Beverage for Jeffrey Soffer's Fontainebleau Resorts. In addition to the 1,600-room Fontainebleau Resort in Miami, currently undergoing major renovations, the company will be building the 3,800-room Fontainebleau Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on the 26-acre lot it owns on the Strip across from Circus Circus.
Cornell graduate Alberto Andrade has joined the Kor Group as Area General Manager overseeing the Sheraton Gateway and the Delfina both in Los Angeles. He was most recently the General Manager at the Renaissance New York since 1993. Prior to this, he was Vice President Operations Mexico for Stouffer Presidente Hotels and Resorts.
Allen Highfield has been promoted to General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown. He was most recently the Interim General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park (and the property's Hotel Manager since 2004). Highfield was previously the Director of Operations at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch and the Rooms Division Manager at the Little Nell in Aspen.
Joe Mottershead has joined L'Auberge de Sedona as General Manager. He most recently served in the same capacity at the Hilton Checkers in Los Angeles.
Mark Herron has transferred to the Four Seasons Houston as General Manager taking over for Ramesh Sadhwani who has left to be the General Manager for the Tower Suites at Wynn Las Vegas. Herron was most recently the Resort Manager at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara and previously the Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Seattle. He had also been the Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Houston.
Michael Carsch has been appointed President of the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno. He was most recently the General Manager at the Fisher Island Club in Miami, following twenty years with Ritz-Carlton as General Manager in Key Biscayne, Tyson's Corner, and Amelia Island.
Mark Everton has been named General Manager of the Hilton San Francisco Financial District. He was most recently the General Manager at the Oakland Marriott City Center and the Managing Director of the Oakland Convention Center. Everton had also been the Director of Operations at the Renaissance Parc 55 and the Controller at the Four Seasons Clift.
David Gibbons has been appointed General Manager at the Lenox in Boston. Since 1985, Gibbons had been with Swissôtel, most recently as the General Manager of the now-shuttered Drake Swissôtel in New York.
Brad Poncher has been named General Manager for Homewood Suites by Hilton La Quinta and the Desert Villas both due for opening at the beginning of 2007. Poncher most recently spent close to a year in a dual role in La Jolla as General Manager of the Sea Lodge and Resident Manager of the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. He previously spent twelve years as the Vice-President and General Manager of the Smoke Tree Ranch.
Wim Pastoor is the new General Manager of the Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach. He was previously a Vice President for Sandcastle Hotels and Resorts.
Richard Behr has been appointed General Manager of Miramonte in Indian Wells for Destination Hotels and Resorts. He was most recently the General Manager of the Hilton Scottsdale Resort and Villas.
Gordon Overing and Nathalie Gingras-Overing are the new General Managers at Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island. The Caribbean veterans spent sixteen years at the Bitter End Yacht Club, where he was the Activities Director and she was the Retail Buyer. Gingras had also been a Buyer at Little Dix Bay from 1990 to 1992. At Necker, they took over from Shawn and Beverly Matthews, who have left the island.
Fred Findlen has joined the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina as General Manager. A twenty-one-year Hyatt man, he most recently served as General Manager of the Hyatt Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. He also held management positions at the Hyatt Key West, the Hyatt Regency Cerromar Beach, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and the Grand Hyatt Washington, D.C.
Eric Adame has been appointed General Manager at the Hotel Contessa in San Antonio. He was most recently the General Manager of the Hotel ICON in Houston.
Charles Nehme is the new General Manager at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He was most recently the President of a small hotel management company based in Texas and previously the Regional Vice President of Operations with Signet Hotel Corporation. Nehme began his hospitality career with Marriott.
David Barnes has joined the Four Seasons Philadelphia as Hotel Manager taking over for Alper Oztok who is now at the Four Seasons Nevis. Barnes was most recently at Chaminade in Santa Cruz, as General Manager.
Lloyd Van Horn is now at Topnotch in Stowe as Resort Manager. He was most recently the Resort Manager at Lajitas, The Ultimate Hideout in Texas. Prior to joining Lajitas, Van Horn was the General Manager at the Willcox in South Carolina and Assistant General Manager for The Point in New York, both for the Garrett Hotel Group.
Marc Reydams has been named Director of Operations at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado. He was most recently the Director of Operations at the Lansdowne Resort in Virginia and was previously the Food and Beverage Director at the McLean Hilton.
Duncan Clements has joined Kimpton's Hotel Monaco in Chicago as Assistant General Manager. He was most recently in Budapest at the InterContinental as Executive Assistant Manager and had worked with InterContinental in Cleveland as Food and Beverage Director.
Guy Genoud has been appointed Assistant General Manager at the Brown in Louisville. He was most recently the Director of Food and Beverage at the Hilton Rye Town and was previously the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at the Atlanta Hilton and Towers.
Dan Weindruch has been named Chief Financial Officer at the French Lick Resort Casino in Indiana. Most recently, he was the General Manager at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Louisiana and was previously the Vice President and General Manager for the Isle of Capri Casino in Missouri.
Lee Hanke is the new Controller at Destination Resorts Snowmass. This is Hanke's second assignment with Destination Hotels & Resorts as he worked for the company's Stonebridge Inn in Snowmass in the late 1990s.
Dan Tanner has been named Director of Food and Beverage at the Reunion Resort & Club in Orlando. Tanner was most recently at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa as the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage and previously opened that property as Director of Banquets.
Mara Bouvier has joined the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod as Director of Food and Beverage. Bouvier comes from the Tidewater Inn in Maryland where she was the General Manager. She was previously the Resident Manager at the Palms on Turks and Caicos and has been the General Manager at Strawberry Hill Spa Resort in Jamaica.
Paolo Middei has been appointed Food and Beverage Manager at Winvian in Connecticut, scheduled to open late autumn. Middei comes from La Posta Vecchia near Rome and was previously at the Hotel Regina Baglioni in Rome, the Oak Room at Le Méridien Piccadilly and Chez Nico both in London.
The Davidson Hotel Company has named Stephen Kilroy Director of Food and Beverage. He was most recently the Manager of the Wyndham Andover Hotel in Massachusetts and has held various food and beverage positions including Corporate Director of Operations for Shula's Steak Houses and Corporate Director of Food and Beverage Operations for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Sébastien Silvestri has joined the Island Hotel in Newport Beach as Director of Restaurants and Lounges. He comes from Las Vegas' Bellagio, where he toiled as the General Manager of Sensi. In addition, he has held the position of Food and Beverage Director at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and that of Food and Beverage Manager at the Mansion on Turtle Creek.
Jorg Wesche has joined the Hotel at Auburn University, which is part of Horst Schulze's West Paces Hotel Group. He was most recently the Rooms Executive at the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn.
Sean Rearden has been appointed pre-opening Director of Sales and Marketing for the Liberty Hotel in Boston due to open June 2007 in what used to be the Charles Street Jail. He comes from the Westin Copley Place where he had served since 2001, most recently as the Director of Sales and Marketing.
The Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver has appointed Peter Bruyere Director of Sales and Marketing. Most recently the Director of Resort Sales at the Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort & Spa, he also held various sales positions with Fairmont and Four Seasons.
Sam Zabawsky has been named pre-opening Director of Sales and Marketing for the Sandpearl Resort in Florida, slated to open June 2007. He was most recently the Director of Resort Marketing at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island.
Leasa Kennedy has joined the Cove Lakeside Resort as Director of Sales and Marketing. She has been at the Manteo Resort Waterfront Hotel & Villas in Kelowna as Director of Sales for the past six years and was previously in sales at the Grand Okanagan Resort and the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown.
Steve Migliara has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center in New Jersey. Migliara previously served as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach. Prior to that, he spent six years at the Ocean Place Conference Resort in New Jersey, where he was Associate Director of Sales.
Stephanie Davis has been named Director of Brand Communications for the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group in Las Vegas. She was most recently in Public Relations at MGM Mirage for the past four years.
Jennifer Thorn transferred with Destination Hotels and Resorts to the Stowe Mountain Lodge as Director of Sales and Marketing. She was most recently in the same position at Boston's hotel NINE ZERO for the past two years. Thorn's tenure in the Boston area included working at the Hyatt Regency, Swissôtel, Wyndham as well as the Four Seasons.
The Hotel Crescent Court has appointed Adrian Norbury Director of Marketing. He most recently held the position of Director of Sales at the Hotel Crescent Court and the Mansion on Turtle Creek. He joined Rosewood in 2002 as Regional Director of Sales based in London.
Lorin Seidman has joined the Stowe Mountain Lodge as Director of Public Relations. She was most recently an Account Manager at Kortenhaus Communications in Boston and was previously the Public Relations Manager for the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park.
Fawn Heyer is now at the Stowe Mountain Lodge as Senior Sales Manager. She transferred from Boston's hotel NINE ZERO hotel where she was the Transient Sales Manager and was previously in catering and conference services for the Ritz-Carlton Boston.
Don Ehehalt has joined Las Vegas' Red Rock Resort and Spa as National Sales Manager. He was most recently at the Venetian as Associate Casino Host, following seven years with Four Seasons in Los Angeles, Carlsbad, Santa Barbara and Palm Beach.
Larry Riordan has left the Peninsula Chicago after six years as Director of Human Resources. He is now the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Cenitare Restaurants, a new joined venture that includes Chefs Rick Tramonto and Gale Gand as well as Richard Melman of Lettuce Entertain You.
Caitlin Doyle has been appointed Human Resources Manager for Destination Resorts' Snowmass in Snowmass Village. She rejoins the hotel where she worked from 1997 to 2002. She originally joined the company after working in operations and human resources for Marriott.
The Davidson Hotel Company in Memphis has named Kristi Goodrum Director of Reporting and Compliance. She was previously Audit Manager with Memphis based Rhea & Ivy Certified Public Accountants.
The Westin Seattle has named Paul DiNapoli Director of Rooms. He has recently held management positions for several properties including the Westin San Francisco Airport and Westin Maui Resort and Spa. In addition, he was previously the Director of Rooms at the Westin Santa Clara and Director of Guest Services at the Sheraton Boston.
Marcus Hotels and Resorts has appointed Larry Flam Director of Restaurant Operations. Most recently he was Director of Operations for the N9ne Group and was previously with Lettuce Entertain You, Rain Forest Café and Kimpton for whom he was Director of Midwest Restaurant Operations.
Jim Webster has joined the Mondrian Scottsdale as Banquet Manager. He was most recently at the Phoenician and held similar positions with Ritz-Carlton in Rancho Mirage, San Francisco and Laguna Niguel.
Jeremy Lieb is now the Chef/Partner at Trois restaurant in Atlanta. He was previously the Executive Chef at Le Cirque Las Vegas and also toiled at Medici at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas as Restaurant Chef and as the Executive Sous Chef at The Mansion at the MGM Grand.
Bruno Giordano has been named Executive Chef at Le Sport in St. Lucia. He was previously the Executive Chef at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort, the Hotel Monasterio del Cusco in Peru and, most recently, El Encanto in Santa Barbara, all Orient-Express properties.
Chris Eddy has joined Winvian in Connecticut as Executive Chef. He had previously toiled at Alain Ducasse's Mix in Las Vegas and spent six years with Daniel Boulud, both at Daniel and Café Boulud in New York and Palm Beach.
Michael Otsuka has been named Executive Chef at The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco. He was most recently the Executive Chef at the Lark Creek Inn in Larkspur and previously oversaw the kitchens at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
Michael Anthony has been named Executive Chef at New York's Gramercy Tavern, replacing Tom Colicchio. Anthony had left his job as Executive Chef at Blue Hill at Stone Barns earlier this year with the intent of opening his own restaurant.
Yanis Laboureau has joined Cotton House in Mustique as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. Since 2001 he had held various food and beverage management positions at Le Méridien Bora Bora.
Philippe Tosques has joined Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio in Las Vegas as General Manager. He had been in the same position at Fleur de Lys Las Vegas following a stint as Director of Operations for the Paul Bocuse Brasserie Group in Lyon.
Michael Mina's soon to open Stripsteak at the Mandalay Bay has appointed Tony Fisher General Manager. He was most recently at BOA Steakhouse, also in Las Vegas.
Stéphane Clasquin has joined Ortolan in Los Angeles as Restaurant Manager. He was most recently the Maitre d'Hotel and Restaurant Manager at L'Orangerie. Clasquin had previously overseen Linq, One Pico at Shutters on the Beach and Citronelle all in the Los Angeles area.
John Geng has joined Mix in Las Vegas as General Manager replacing John Cunin who left in the spring to join Wynn Las Vegas. Geng was most recently the General Manager at Del Frisco Double Eagle Steakhouse and previously the Restaurant Manager at N9NE Steakhouse also in Las Vegas.
Mark Gustella has accepted the General Manager position at Michael Mina's Nob Hill in the MGM Grand taking over from Ari Kastrati who will now work with the Mina Group. Gustella was formerly the Assistant General Manager of Sensi at the Bellagio.
Tim Wilson has been named Director of Beverage for the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group after holding the same title with B.R. Guest. After overseeing beverage operations at sixteen outlets for B.R. Guest including their lone Las Vegas outlet, Fiamma at the MGM Grand, he will work with Master Sommelier Luis de Santos to coordinate operations within Wolfgang Puck's ten current fine-dining outlets around the country.
Philippe Buttin has joined Le Bernardin as Head Sommelier. He was most recently working with Chef/Owner Joël Antunes at his namesake restaurant in Atlanta as Head Sommelier, Beverage Manager and Assistant Manager. Previously Buttin had been an Assistant Sommelier at Mirabelle in London.
Kelly McAuliffe is the new Wine Director at Mix in Las Vegas. He was most recently at the Two-Michelin-Starred Restaurant Christian Etienne in Avignon where he held the distinction of being the only US citizen to be a Sommelier of a Michelin-starred restaurant in France. Previously, McAuliffe was a Sommelier at Restaurant Alain Ducasse at the Plaza-Athénée in Paris after serving as Sommelier Trainee at his restaurant in Monte Carlo.
Hazel Davis has joined the Waldorf=Astoria as Director of Housekeeping. She was most recently the Director of Housekeeping at the Ritz-Carlton Washington D.C. Prior to this, she was the Director of Housekeeping at the Four Seasons Atlanta.
Rob Taylor rejoins Hyatt Hotels as Front Office Manager at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati after a brief stint as the Corporate Employee Development Manager at MasterCorp in Tennessee. He had previously served in various managerial roles at the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas from 1999 to 2003.
EUROPE
Hilton International has appointed Robert Stoddard Director of Development for Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. For the past three years Stoddard has worked throughout Russia and the CIS countries providing hotel development advisory services. In addition, he established the hotel development consulting services for Colliers International – Russia in 2003.
Bernard de Villèle has joined Thistle Hotels as Area General Manager overseeing three hotels in London. He was most recently with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces as Vice President U.K. Operations and General Manager of the Crowne Plaza London St. James Hotel and Suites and 51 Buckingham Gate Luxury Suites and Apartments. De Villèle had previously been the General Manager at La Samanna on St. Martin.
Rezidor SAS Hospitality has appointed Thorsten Kirschke as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Kirschke has worked for Rezidor SAS for the past twelve years. His most recent position was Area Vice President Germany, Austria, South East Europe, Switzerland, Italy and Poland.
Ian Hurst has been appointed by Taj International to General Manager of 51 Buckingham Gate and the Crowne Plaza London St. James. He joins the property from two years at the Great Pacific Financial Group in China and previously helped launch the Pacific International Hotel Shanghai. In addition, he spent twenty-five years with Hilton International. At Taj, he takes over from Bernard de Villèle.
Stefano Gegnacorsi is the new General Manager of Rocco Forte's Hotel Savoy in Florence taking over for Davide Bertilaccio who is moving to Geneva to assume the role of General Manager at Rocco Forte's Le Richemond. Gegnacorsi had been General Manager at the Palazzo Sasso on the Amalfi Coast for the last five years and previously worked for Rocco Forte's Hotel de Russie in Rome as Hotel Manager.
Annette Hammer has been appointed General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg due to open in spring 2007. At her last appointment she held the position of General Manager at the Best Western Queens Hotel Hamburg and has held various positions at the Forte Crest Hotel Hamburg and Grand Hotel Nuremberg.
PierLuigi Torello has left Paris' Ritz after eighteen years to become the General Manager of the 50-room Hotel Normandy in Vernon, France. For the past three years of his Ritz career, Torello was an Executive Assistant Manager.
Gilles Gabel is the new Executive Assistant Manager of the InterContinental Budapest, replacing Duncan Clements, who has left the company. Gabel comes from the Millennium Seoul Hilton where he was the Executive Assistant Manager after joining them in 2004 as the Director of Food and Beverage. In addition, Gabel has been with InterContinental in Sharm el Sheikh, Abidjan and Riyadh.
Kathrin Wirth-Ueberschär will be in charge of Marketing and Sales at the Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg due to open in spring 2007. Her most recent appointment was at the Royal Méridien Hamburg, where she was Director of Sales and Marketing for four years.
The InterContinental Paris Le Grand Hôtel has named Laurent Gabard Director of Sales and Marketing. For the past three years, he had been with InterContinental in Beirut, as the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
The InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam has appointed Elisa Soregaroli Director of Sales. She joined the hotel in November 2002 in the position of Sales Manager and in January 2006 was promoted to Senior Sales Manager.
Cornell graduate Henrik Mansson has joined Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts as Senior Vice President Human Resources, replacing Richard Oehler who has been named Senior Vice President Operational Standards and Systems for the company. Mansson was most recently the Director of Human Resources at Elior in the United Kingdom and previously spent three years as Head of Human Resources and Quality for the European hotels of the Le Méridien Group.
Alessandro Morelli has accepted the position of Executive Chef/Food and Beverage Director for the Hotel Calamidoro near Pisa. He was most recently with Bin Hendi Enterprises in Dubai in the Hospitality Division as Executive Chef-Development Manager.
ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
Helmut Knipp has been named Senior Vice President – Development at Langham Hotels International. He was most recently the Managing Director of CCA International Hong Kong and was previously with Hilton Hotels where he held senior management positions in sales and marketing, operations and finance.
Ian Coughlan has joined Wynn Macau as Director of Hotel Operations. For the past ten years, he has been with the Peninsula Group as General Manager of the Peninsula Hong Kong and Peninsula Bangkok. He had originally joined the company in 1996 as Hotel Manager at the Peninsula Hong Kong. Coughlan has previously served as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage at the Oriental Singapore.
Michael Koltes has transferred as General Manager to the Swissôtel Tallnin in China. He was most recently the Resident Manager at the Swissôtel Dalian and previously the Director of Food and Beverage at the Seoul Hilton.
Jeffrey van Vorsselen has been promoted to General Manager of the Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong. He had joined Langham Place as Hotel Manager in July 2003.
Linie Palacio has joined the Swiss-Belhotel Borneo Samarinda as General Manager. She was previously the General Manager of the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, President/General Manager of Home Meals Kitchens Corporation in the Philippines and General Manager at Nirwana Gardens Resort, Indonesia.
Jeffrey Sussman has joined the Leela Kempinski in Mumbai as General Manager. Sussman was a long-time Ritz-Carlton man whose tenure included stints as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Rooms Operations at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park and the Ritz-Carlton Osaka.
Anthony Ross has been appointed General Manager of the Indigo Pearl in Phuket. He has held senior management positions for the launch of three hotels - the Azur Lodge in New Zealand, the Sunway Lagoon Resort in Malaysia and the Pan Pacific Hotel Gold Coast in Australia.
Andrew Mensforth has been named General Manager of the Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa. He has been with Hyatt for sixteen years, most recently at the Park Hyatt Tokyo as Executive Assistant Manager.
After twenty-one years, Betty Ozaki has left Halekulani, where she was the Director of Sales, to become a Regional Director for the Leading Hotels of the World, handling Japan.
Accor has taken over the Baolong Hotel in Shanghai and rebranded it as the Grand Mercure Baolong Hotel with Anthony Mirza as General Manager. Mirza was most recently in Seoul as the General Manager of the Novotel Ambassador Doksan.
Richard Cooke has transferred to the Pudong Shangri-La in Shanghai as Hotel Manager. He was most recently the Corporate Director of Food and Beverage for the company. Cooke had originally joined Shangri-La in September 2000 as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage at the Shangri-La Singapore.
T.W. Hughes has been named General Manager at the Amata Spring Country Club in Thailand. A Cornell graduate, he was most recently the Chief Operating Officer of the Pine Valley Golf Resort and Country Club in Beijing and previously the General Manager at the Haikou Meishi International Golf Resort in Seoul.
Robert Fabiano has been appointed General Manager of the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao, taking over for Frank Tideman. Fabiano began his career with Marriott International in 1972 at the Newton Marriott in Massachusetts and was most recently the General Manager of the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Nebraska.
Akira Moreno has been appointed Resident Manager of the Leela in Goa, which is operated by GHM. He is taking over from Helen Fox who was promoted to sister property the Chedi Club at Tanah Gajah in Bali, as General Manager. Moreno, a Lausanne graduate, was most recently the Hotel Manager at the Raleigh in Miami and previously served as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Washington DC.
Patrick Carabin has been appointed Resident Manager of the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel in Vietnam. He was most recently the Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage at Le Méridien Amman In Jordan.
Christophe Langlois has been appointed Resort Manager of the One&Only Kanuhura, Maldives. For the past two years he had been at the Hotel Meurice in Paris as the Hotel Manager and was previously the Director of Operations at the Hotel Prince de Galles following some years at the Ritz Paris.
Warren Martinez has been appointed Controller at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's North Shore. He comes from the Irvine Marriott where he was the Assistant Controller. He also served as Assistant Controller at the Fairmont Kea Lani.
Grégoire Simonin has been appointed Group Culinary Project Design Manager for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group based in Hong Kong. He was previously the Executive Chef at the Mandarin Oriental in Chiang Mai. Simonin also worked as Deputy Executive Chef (and Acting Executive Chef) at Raffles Singapore.
Jens Corder has transferred to the Shangri-La Singapore as Executive Assistant Manager/ Director of Food and Beverage. He was most recently the Director of Food and Beverage at the Shangri-La Kowloon.
Giorgio Olivotti has been appointed Executive Assistant Manager-Food and Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. He was most recently at the One&Only Le Saint Géran on Mauritius, as Resident Manager and previously held various food and beverage positions at Raffles The Plaza and the Westin Stamford, both in Singapore.
Philip Knuepfer has transferred to the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai as Food and Beverage Director, replacing Rodolphe Gay who has left the company. Knuepfer was most recently the Director of Food and Beverage at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. His replacement in Kuala Lumpur is Peter Davies who comes from the Mandarin Oriental Macau.
The Fullerton Singapore has appointed Oliver Kreuzer as Director of Food and Beverage. Kreuzer has previously worked as the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Maui and Director of Food and Beverage at the Hotel Plaza-Athénée New York.
Hector Morales, Jr. has been promoted to Executive Chef at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's North Shore. He was previously the Executive Sous Chef for Turtle Bay since 1996. Prior to this, he served as Executive Chef on the S.S. Independence and on the S.S. Constitution. He held the same position for American Hawaii Cruises.
Fabrice Blondeau has joined Raffles Singapore at Executive Assistant Manager. He was most recently with Hyatt International as Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and previously Regional Director South West Europe and North Africa for the company. In addition, he spent a year overseeing food and beverage at the Park Hyatt Vendôme.
Winston Suen has been appointed Director of Corporate Engineering for Langham Hotels International. His past experience includes working for Kerry Properties Development Management, Hong Kong & Shanghai Hotels and the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation.
Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong has promoted Teresa Poon to Director of Sales and Marketing. She joined the hotel opening team as Director of Sales in October 2003 from the Regal Airport Hotel where she was Director of Sales.
The Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa has appointed Sandrine Boutin Director of Sales. Boutin previously worked for Hilton International in Paris. Prior to that, she worked with Nosylis and Group Pauli, two French tour operators.
Sherona Shng has been appointed Director of Communications at Langham Hotels International. She was most recently the Director of Public Relations for the group after joining the Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok in 2003 as their Director of Communications.
Ainslie Cheung has been appointed to oversee the communications of the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong. Cheung was previously the Marketing Communications Manager at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong that closed at the end of 2005.
Winnie Tang has been promoted to Public Relations Manager for Langham Hotels International. She joined the company in 2005 as Assistant Public Relations Manager. Tang previously worked in the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for five years.
The InterContinental Grand Stanford has appointed Rhonda Yung as Public Relations Manager. She was most recently the founding Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration Hong Kong as well as the Executive Editor of ELLE at the beginning of 2000. Previously, Yung was the Area Communications Manager of Benetton Asia Pacific Ltd/Fabrica Features.
Matt Coates has been named Executive Chef/Food and Beverage Director at the soon-to-open Evason Hideaway Koh Yao Noi off the island of Phuket in Thailand. He was most recently the Executive Chef at the Chedi Phuket and was previously at Cotton House.
Jason Oakley has joined the Peninsula Hong Kong as Executive Chef for Felix, taking over for Dee Ann Tsurumaki, who left after five years to return home to the United States. Oakley was most recently the Chef de Cuisine at Alex at Wynn Las Vegas.
Jonathan Rose has been named Group Director of Spa for Langham Hotels International. His past experience includes working with Hyatt International and Hilton-owned LivingWell Health Clubs.
MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA
Peter Tischmann, Sr. is now the International Hospitality Advisor to the Minister of Investment of Egypt in Cairo. He will monitor the complete renovation of historically significant government-owned 'Historic Hotels of Egypt' of which he will be the Chief Operating Officer. Tischmann is a former General Manager at the Baltschug Kempinski in Moscow and the Ciragan Palace Hotel in Istanbul. In addition, he re-opened New York's St. Regis after its multi-million dollar renovation by ITT Sheraton.
The Sheraton Doha has appointed Otto Kurzendorfer Deputy General Manager. He was most recently the Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage at Le Méridien Damascus and was previously the Director of Food and Beverage at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort in Dubai and was later promoted to General Manager to open the Bateaux Dubai.
Kamal Soubra has been named Executive Assistant Manager for Bavaria Executive Suites Dubai. A Lausanne graduate, Soubra spent two years at the Warwick Geneva as Front Office Manager and Revenue Manager. Before that he worked for two years at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel in Beirut, and spent eight years with Intercontinental in Europe and the Middle East.
Romain Saada has been appointed Director of Revenue Management for Shangri-La, based in Dubai. He was most recently with Starwood Brussels Complex Hotels as Complex Revenue Manager and was previously with Sofitel Hotels North America as Internet Revenue Specialist and Market Analyst with the InterContinental Dubai.
Oktay Ulker has joined the Venus Beach Hotel and Residences in Cyprus as Rooms Division Manager. He was most recently at the Jasmine Court Hotel and Casino as the Front of the House Manager. Ulker previous postings have been at the Kaya Ramada Plaza in Istanbul, the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead and the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul.
InterContinental Hotels Group/Dubai Festival City has appointed Angel Magdalani as Director of Human Resources, to oversee all three Dubai based properties – InterContinental Dubai Festival City, Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City and InterContinental Residence Suites Dubai Festival City. Magdalani's InterContinental career started at the InterContinental Houston in 1985.
Jörg-Peter Nödler has been appointed Executive Chef for Bavaria Executive Suites Dubai. He was most recently at the One&Only Mirage in Dubai and previously in the kitchens at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai, Hayman Island in Australia and the Beaufort in Singapore.
