Hilton Worldwide today announced that the historic Birmingham hotel, The Redmont Hotel, will join Curio - A Collection by Hilton, a global brand of distinctive upper upscale and luxury hotels, hand-picked for travelers who seek local discovery and authentic experiences. The downtown landmark, built in 1925, is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the city of Birmingham. Currently undergoing a complete renovation, the hotel is scheduled to open as Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio Collection by Hilton in July 2015.

"Birmingham is a budding market for both business and tourism and we are fortunate to be adding The Redmont into the Curio Collection by Hilton in the midst of all this growth and excitement," said Bill Fortier, senior vice president, development - Americas, Hilton Worldwide. "Birmingham itself is a historic gem, and The Redmont Hotel has long been the jewel in the city's crown, having helped shape the destination's famous southern hospitality over the past 90 years."

The 14-story hotel will feature 120 guest rooms and four meeting rooms. Redmont Hotel Birmingham, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, will offer a boutique experience that combines classic Southern charm with a modern touch. Guests will have the opportunity to observe the property's beautifully maintained original details including vaulted ceilings with decorative moldings, a custom 10-foot crystal chandelier, and an expansive staircase featuring marble steps and the original iron hand rail. With jewel-toned finishes throughout the guest room furnishings, accompanied by marble-clad baths, the hotel will offer an entirely new luxurious feel upon its reopening.

With Birmingham now ranked No. 1 on America's Next Hot Food Cities list by Zagat, the Redmont Hotel Birmingham will feature three separate dining concepts to highlight the best of the city's culinary experiences - including the only hotel rooftop bar in the state of Alabama. The Birmingham-based group, Rhaglan, is overseeing the development with plans for approachable fine dining with international flare and locally sourced ingredients. A cafe for guests and visitors, meanwhile, will offer coffee, fresh pastries, paninis and salads.

Named after Red Mountain, a local adventure hotspot known for its hiking trails and ziplining, the Redmont Hotel Birmingham exemplifies the mission of Curio to intrigue travelers with hotels ingrained in the spirit and culture of their local communities. The hotel is near major cultural and entertainment attractions including the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Alabama Ballet, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Zoo and a variety of sports arenas. It is only a 10-minute drive to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, and a short walk to the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex and University of Alabama at Birmingham. It will also be a major hub for guests and athletes at the future World Games, to be hosted in Birmingham in 2021.

"With a gorgeous rooftop bar, modern restaurants and spectacular rooms, we are certain that the Redmont Hotel Birmingham will entice guests to the city of Birmingham," said Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio - A Collection by Hilton. "Its distinct culture and spirit embodies the Curio collection, and we are excited to share it with curious travelers and our 45 million Hilton HHonors members."

As members of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, all Curio hotels, including Redmont Hotel Birmingham, participate in Hilton HHonors, the only hotel loyalty program that allows members to earn both Points and Miles on the same stay and no blackout dates on reward stays. In addition, HHonors members can use Points to purchase unique experience rewards, premium merchandise, make charitable contributions and more.
