Gail Rebuck will stand for election at the AGM along with current directors, Harsha V. Agadi, John D. Campbell, chairman Roland Hernandez, Mitchell C. Hochberg, Ruth A. Kennedy, H. Roeland Vos, and president and chief executive officer John M. Scott. Director Prudence M. Leith will retire from the board upon the expiration of her term at the 2015 AGM.
Gail Rebuck is an established leader in publishing, rising to the top of the industry, serving as former chief executive officer, and now chair, of Penguin Random House UK,” said Roland Hernandez, chairman of the board of directors of Belmond Ltd. “She brings a wealth of public board experience in the media and marketing sectors, which, in addition to her strong management background, will complement and strengthen our board, ensuring we have the necessary experience to draw upon as we continue to grow our business and build shareholder value.”
Gail Rebuck has served as chair of Penguin Random House UK from 2013 to date and sits on the company’s global board of representatives. She is a member of the group management committee of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, a global media conglomerate, and a non-executive director of Koovs plc, a fashion retailer. Ms. Rebuck served as chair and chief executive officer of Random House UK and its overseas subsidiaries from 1991 to 2013 and also as a non-executive director of British Sky Broadcasting Group plc from 2002 to 2012. She was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2009 and appointed a life peer to the British House of Lords in 2014, becoming Baroness Rebuck. She also chairs the Royal College of Art and the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
