The official launch of new French school Ferrières-Paris, specializing in Luxury hotel management, High gastronomy and Luxury activities, due to open in Autumn 2015, took place in the five-star hotel Peninsula Paris.

A complete post-baccalaureate bilingual French and English curriculum that will be available for students to study, was then announced to both national and international media, as well as an overview of the entrepreneurial, touristic, culinary and luxury professions.

The luxurious setting of the Peninsula hotel mirrored that of the school’s Ferrières, situated is a historical and sumptuous neo-renaissance Chateau, surrounded by a 130-hectare park, built in the XIXth Century by Baron James de Rothschild and the French branch of the de Rothschild family. 25 kms away from Paris - A4 or RER, the Chateau reflects the founding values of the school: Excellence, Tradition, Openness and Innovation.

Hundreds of students from France and all over the world will benefit from a complete bilingual French and English post Baccalaureate curriculum to three Bachelor of Art degrees, and starting in 2016, a Master of Art and a Master of Business Administration as well.

Ferrières’s students will benefit from a diverse choice of high-ranked professions in management and entrepreneurship within the luxury industry, a sector in constant development.

The end of a paradox

One could wonder why France - not only one of the major tourist destinations of the world, but a country recognized for the quality of its luxury services - does not offer a wide array of prestigious schools dedicated to this industry.

Many French and international students seeking specialization in this sector have had to go beyond their borders and search for countries that don’t have the same touristic knowledge, culture of hospitality, gastronomic know-how and wealth of employment opportunities in the luxury sector as in France.

That will be no longer the case. The proximity of the school to Paris combined with the concentration of palaces, luxury hotels and boutiques, historical luxury brands, landmarks of gourmet gastronomy and “haute cuisine” represents a major advantage for students, having the opportunity to never be far from the work of their study.

Paris, the legendary capital, considered as an open museum, is the perfect setting for a student wishing to be inspired by “the French way of living”.

Thus, the ultimate ambition of the founders of Ferrières is, through education, to export the concept of global managerial expertise related to “French excellence” to several other countries around the world.

Mr Khalil Khater, president of Accelis group and managing entity of Ferrieres, commented: “We strived to ensure students have access to paid internships in major hotel chains, restaurant chains and professional luxury networks in France and in other countries, who are partners of Ferrières. Additionally, they will benefit from international exchange programs with European and North American partner schools and universities”. He added: “The industry is confronted with difficulties in recruiting qualified people thus the need for professional internationally-oriented tourism experts.”

An exceptional setting for a specialized education in luxury

Ferrières’ school executed a complete renovation of the famous Château and adapted it for various educational needs. It has been turned into an unconventional and luxurious campus of 20,000 m², able to accommodate in the coming years, around 1000 students and offering both theoretical and practical courses.

The campus is comprised of classrooms, a 500-seat auditorium (to be finished in 2016), 1000 m² of technical working space in state-of-the art kitchens for applied learning, wine cellars and wine tasting halls, and two applied-learning restaurants:
- LE BARON gastronomic restaurant in the salons of the chateau for individuals and enterprises.
- LE CHAI wine bar of the French Wine Academy, where warm atmosphere, cuisine and the discovery of distinguished wines unite

There is also 2000 m² of reception areas, a student cafeteria, rooms dedicated solely to student activities and an expansive library.

Technology is a major feature of the school’s pedagogic programs, with electronic education technology highly utilized in the curriculum.

500 m from the château, the applied learning hotel is the 232-room four-star Le Paxton – Resort & Spa at Ferrières, and the partner of Ferrières. It will allow students to put into practice, under the supervision of experienced professionals, the schooling related to various operations and functions in luxury hotels.

A research center - designed as an incubator and foundation of young enterprises in the tourism field - will complete this package of educational tools that will facilitate innovation, entrepreneurship and internship financing. Ferrières provides support for all student needs: accommodation service, individual stays, developing a dynamic student life, financing studies, administrative issues and visa procedures.

During the three first years in Ferrieres, the students, whatever their countries of origins, will benefit from a special scholarship from Ferrieres’ foundation amounting to 6 000€ per year, to help them reduce the global cost of their annual fees.

The people behind the project

Thanks to the efforts of individuals and professionals in the private and public sectors, the school of Ferrières-Paris’s project was made possible by:
- The donation of Château de Ferrières to the town hall of Ferrières in 2011 by de Rothschild Family with the aim to create a pedagogic project.
- The perseverance of Mrs. Mireille MUNCH, Mayor of Ferrières, supported by the Town council in undertaking this project.( All major regional authorities attended the press conference !) .
- The managerial and financial mobilization of Accelis Group and its president, Khalil Khater, French of Lebanese origins, a self made man, formerly in the banking industry who has worked for twenty years in the management of hotel and restaurant industry in France.

Through an active collaboration with leading professionals of the sector, Ferrières has gathered around a prestigious patronage committee of whom the president of honor is:
- Mr. Jean-Robert PITTE ( member of the Academy of Moral and Political sciences and ex-president of Paris-Sorbonne University and president of the French Academy of Wine.
- Guy SAVOY, The famous 3-star chef.
- Philippe GOMBERT, International President of Relais & Châteaux
