This award was presented by PKF hotelexperts during the hotelforum gala evening on the 8 October. Deniz Omurgonulson, incoming President of the Cornell Hotel Society, accepted the award on behalf of the School of Hotel Administration, and André Witschi, head of the Board of Directors, accepted the award for Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne. In addition, the winners of the Hotel Property Award 2014 and the Blue Hotel Award were presented.

Since 2007, the Hospitality Innovation Award has been awarded by PKF hotelexperts for exceptional achievements which have significantly influenced the hotel industry, especially considering social commitment. Previous winners of this award have been Ali Koç and Semahat Arsel (Divan Hotel Group), Ursula Schelle-Müller and Dieter Müller (Motel One), Carlo Petrini (Slow Food), Peter-Mario Kubsch (Studiosus) and Helmut Kutin (SOS-Kinderdorf).
About the recipients Founded in 1922, the School of Hotel Administration was the first academic institution granting a degree in hospitality management. Michael D. Johnson became the sixth dean of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration (SHA) in 2006. Dean Johnson has focused his efforts on investing in faculty, enhancing students’ learning experiences, increasing diversity, building an effective fundraising organization, and growing the school’s global platform.
Rooted in the Swiss sense of hospitality, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), has been a pioneer in education that has inspired the world of hospitality since 1893. Currently, about 2,000 students from nearly 90 countries study at the campus in Lausanne. As general director, Michel Rochat is responsible for implementing the current development strategy, which includes improving the school’s international reputation.
