The MICHELIN guide Great Britain & Ireland 2015 is published today priced at £15.99 (€16.99 in Ireland).

“The 14 new stars in our 2015 guide highlight the enormous richness and variety of the UK’s restaurant scene. They range from country pubs to hipster hangouts, from counter-restaurants to classic dining rooms”, said Rebecca Burr, Editor of the Michelin guide.

The new stars include two on beautiful Scottish Islands: Isle of Eriska in Eriska, and Three Chimneys & The House Over-By on the Isle of Skye. There are two in Wales: Ynyshir Hall in Machynlleth and the Crown at Whitebrook in Monmouth; and Cornwall has another star, this time in Port Isaac, courtesy of Nathan Outlaw and his Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen.

The Treby Arms, owned by a former winner of MasterChef, is one of three new pubs to gain a star.

In London the diversity is even more pronounced. There are two restaurants with counters: one, Barrafina, is Spanish; the other, Kitchen Table at Bubbledogs, serves an innovative, no-choice set menu. We have another great Indian restaurant in Gymkhana; Jason Atherton achieves another star with City Social; Simon Rogan has put Claridge’s back on the culinary map with Fera; and The Clove Club comes from a team who cut their teeth in pop-ups.

“The public’s knowledge and interest in food gets greater every year and it won’t just be fans of cookery shows who will be planning trips to Devon to the Treby Arms”, said Rebecca Burr.

“The Clove Club shows that there is no shortage of talented young chefs coming through,” she added.

“Barrafina has just got better and better over the years and even when a second branch was being planned and subsequently opened, we still experienced the same high standard of cooking”.

As well as the stars, this year’s selection sees 26 new Bib Gourmands, 9 of which are in London. This award recognises establishments offering good food at affordable prices (the limit being £28 for three courses, €40 in Ireland), and is hugely popular with our readers.

The Bib Gourmand awards also reflect the continuing trend for competitively priced, less structured and more flexible dining”, Burr said. “These include Ibérico World Tapas in Derby, 64° in Brighton and Palomar in Soho; as well as The Gannet and Ox and Finch, both in Glasgow.”

Also published on the same day is the MICHELIN guide London 2015, priced at £11.99 (€12.99 in Ireland). This guide provides extended text on London’s restaurants, with additional photographs and information on all starred establishments, as well as a pull-out map. It also includes a selection of London’s best hotels, across all categories of comfort.

This year’s highly anticipated Michelin Guide is also available in app form. Powered by Bookatable, the restaurant booking service, users can for the first time browse, discover and instantly book their favourite Michelin Guide listed restaurants from their iPhone. The free to download app is available from the Apple App Store [https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id914911902?mt=8] and contains all of the content from the 2015 guide as well as exclusive Michelin experiences and promotions. Using the app’s location technology, diners can easily find and book restaurants nearby while on the go and refine their search by price, cuisine and star rating.
