One of Europe’s best-known hoteliers, Serge moves from Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts to take up the position in Paris with immediate effect.
Peter French, President of Raffles Hotels & Resorts said:
“I am delighted to announce the news of Serge’s move to Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris. Serge is held in high regard within the industry and his extensive international hotel experience speaks for itself - as do the results of his past six years in Rome. During his tenure at Rome Cavalieri, the hotel went from strength to strength in sales results, reputation, staff mentoring and awards gained. I am more than confident that Serge will take Le Royal Monceau - Raffles Paris to the next level.”
Serge has over seventeen years of professional experience as General Manager internationally. He started his career with Hilton, initially in his native France - Paris, Strasbourg and Orly – before moving on to Rome and the UK. He assumed his first posting as General Manager in 1997 in Madagascar, followed closely by Rome and Paris again, before moving in 2008 to Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria, where he has been Managing Director for the past six years.
In 2011 Serge was named Best General Manager of the Year, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts. During his tenure at Rome Cavalieri, the hotel went from strength to strength, receiving many international accolades, including “Best Hotel in the World” (Telegraph Travel Awards); the American Academy of Hospitality Services Six Star Diamond Award (2011); “Best restaurant in Italy” for Ristoranti di Bibenda; an appearance on the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List and “Best Spa in Europe” (Travel & Leisure). La Pergola Restaurant has retained its three Michelin Stars since 2006.
Serge holds a Diploma from the Hotel Management School of Strasbourg in France, and a Certificate on Asset Management from Cornell University. He succeeds Omer Acar, who is moving to Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris’ owning company, Katara Hospitality.
Peter French concludes:
“We are delighted to welcome Serge Ethuin to the Raffles family. We expect great things from such a consummate professional.”
