D.O.M is a five star hotel with 24 rooms and suites, including the exclusive D.O.M suite with a private 25 square meter terrace. Each habitation looks directly over Via Giulia, in an enchanting angle of Rome’s rive droite, occupying a central position between the palaces and bell towers of Rome’s celebrated Regola quarter.

The hotel is strategically located in the heart of the most distinguished artistic area of Italy’s capital city: just a few steps from Piazza Farnese and Piazza Navona, with St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, and Castel S. Angelo just over the Tiber river.

An intentional dichotomy of elements characterizes the entire restoration project, curated by architect Antonio Girardi: many original components of the structure - from exposed brick walls and wooden ceilings, to blocks of marble with ancient sacred inscriptions from the 1500’s – have been preserved and serve as a graceful backdrop for Art Deco inspired furnishings, original works by notable artists, and elements of contemporary design - in order to create the refined and intimate atmospheres typical of private noble residences.

The very name of the hotel, D.O.M, is a result of the discovery of ancient inscriptions found inserted into the corridor walls, dating back to the original flooring of the adjacent church, Santa Lucia del Gonfalone. The wording on these antique blocks of marble reads D.O.M, the acronym for Deo Optimo Maximo, a Latin invocation meaning “to God, most good, most great,” utilized during the Renaissance period as the opening words of many prayers and epigraphs.

Three valuable Andy Warhol silkscreens from the “Ladies and Gentleman” series dominate the restaurant’s dining area, illuminated by antique chandeliers and surrounded by Venetian mirrors deliberately positioned for the specific purpose of giving depth and soliciting non-verbal communication. While the cocktail bar, directly adjacent to the restaurant, is reminiscent of a boudoir and conjures the character of a typical

American speakeasy with a studied selection of spirits, vintage mixed cocktails, and one long velvet sofa that creates an environment of sociable familiarity.

These interior areas, cozy in atmosphere and lending to evening pursuits, are contrasted with - and completed by - a rooftop terrace, bathed in light, open to both hotel guests and visiting passers-by.

Surrounded by aromatic plants, lemon trees and bougainvillea, the terrace is the ideal space in which the atmosphere of a true Roman home has been recreated, completely surrounded – almost protected - between the rooftops and bell towers of the historic center, with an exclusive view of the recently discovered archeological site, “Stabula Agusti,” dating back to the first century A.D., the Tiber river, and facing Gianicolo’s verdant green hills.

The considerable windows of the 24 guestrooms and suites overlook the noble street of Via Giulia and lend ample light to the hotel’s diverse areas, each of which conserving preexisting elements such as slight alcoves in the exposed brick walls and coffered white ceilings, cleverly combined with contemporary furnishings, offering superior comfort and extreme attention to each and every detail.

Finally, for champagne aficionados, D.O.M Hotel will serve as home to the first and only Dom Pérignon privée in Rome: a room entirely dedicated to lovers of the noble cuveè, where dinners will be served from a special menu paired with rare and prestigious millésimées.

Antonio Girardi, founding partner of the hotel, as well as the architect who oversaw the entire restoration, commented: “D.O.M Hotel is a project born from my passion for design, architecture, and the hotel industry. I aimed to create an environment in which different concepts could subsist together: the austere sanctity of the building - emphasized by the presence of ancient marble inscriptions from the Church of Santa Lucia del Gonfalone – in contrast with an interior designed to be both alluring and irreverent, just as I attempted to enrich the space through a cosmopolitan and atypical perspective of traditionally nostalgic Roman atmospheres.”

D.O.M HOTEL

Situated on one of the most historic and elegant streets of Rome, Via Giulia, and located between Piazza Farnese, Trastevere, Piazza Navona and St. Peter’s Basilica, D.O.M is a new luxury hotel found in a traditional noble palazzo dating back to the 1600’s. D.O.M Hotel emanates the atmosphere of an aristocratic household: a unique combination of that which is both sacred and luxurious, enhanced by blocks of marble with ancient sacred inscriptions dating back to the Renaissance era and by the presence of numerous elements of design, works of art, and contemporary photography.
The sophisticated restaurant, surrounded by Venetian mirrors and illuminated by antique chandeliers, boasts three original Andy Warhol silkscreens from the “Ladies and Gentlemen” series.
The cocktail bar, accommodating and cozy, is reminiscent of a boudoir and inspired by the idea of a traditional American speakeasy.
The 24 rooms and suites, all overlooking Via Giulia, offer absolute comfort with a contemporary spirit and authentic features predating the construction of the original building, such as coffered wooden ceilings and exposed brick walls.
Guest rooms are divided into six categories including: Superior, Deluxe, Corner Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, Suite, and D.O.M Suite.
The spectacular terrace located on the roof of the hotel, perfumed with fresh rosemary and lemon, evokes the memory of Rome’s Dolce Vita era. Guests can enjoy an afternoon cocktail while admiring the rooftops and church cupolas of the celebrated Regola district, while facing Gianicolo’s verdant green hill or surveying the recently discovered ancient archaeological site, “Stabula Augusti,” Roman horse stables dating back to the first century A.D., from the hotel’s exclusive vantage point.
