Inspired by the motto “The Power of Creation”, the iconic name in champagne and the icon of the Dutch hotel world have entered into a unique partnership, giving Dom Pérignon a permanent place in the city’s Grande Dame on the Amstel in the form of a three-room suite. LM Flower Fashion and PuurFlow were engaged for the interior design and styling, with renowned brands such as Fendi Casa supplying the furnishings. Additional collaboration with Arte, Farrow&Ball, DB2, Kobe, Givenchy, Bowers & Wilkins and Philips served to complete the world of Dom Pérignon in this suite at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam.

Journey through the world of Dom Pérignon

Dom Pérignon stands for a way of life. In the Champagne Suite by Dom Pérignon, guests from the Netherlands and around the world can enjoy the very pinnacle of the Dutch creative spirit paired with the French allure of Dom Pérignon. The new suite will provide a stage for leading Dutch and international artists and designers, where they will be showcasing their most exclusive creations. Among the works that guests will have the chance to admire up close is Jeff Koons’ Venus Balloon created especially in honour of the partnership with Dom Pérignon, followed by a new limited edition artwork by a different famous Dutch creator every three months. Currently on display in the suite is the exclusive football table by Piet Hein Eek. In a further alliance with the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the suite will feature replicas of photographs by a number of the country’s top photographers such as Reinier van der Aart (RVDA).

Bob Bron of Moët Hennessy Nederland: ‘We take pride in the official opening of this Champagne Suite by Dom Pérignon. Those who know and love Dom Pérignon are true connoisseurs, explorers who always demand a cut above and at the same time follow their own minds. Dom Pérignon and the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam are two strong international brands that complement each other perfectly.’

Anita Bos of the Hotel Intercontinental Amstel Amsterdam: ‘It is with great pride and pleasure that we worked on creating this, the world’s first and unique Dom Pérignon Suite. Now we can offer our guests this one of a kind suite alongside the other special rooms and suites at our hotel. In other words, it’s a jewel in the crown of our hotel and this city.’

Marc Knijnenburg of LM Flower Fashion: ‘The luxurious look and feel and superior quality of Dom Pérignon is reflected in the interior of this suite. For example, we used a high-gloss black and silver colour scheme that is echoed in the solid wood dinner table, in the sofas and chairs finished with Seleria stitching and other details such as the lamps. The suite’s styling also drew on flowers such as the exclusive Meijer White Rose, the Vanda Orchid and Vollering Hydrangea. Guests staying in this suite can have the flowers styled to their specifications.’

Sjoerd Markx of PuurFlow: ‘The suite subtly expresses the soul of Dom Pérignon in its every detail, without ever overpowering the grandeur of the InterContinental Amstel. The colours and texture used in this suite are based on the pallet of champagne wine, while various parties contributed their creativity and art to perfecting a design that unmistakably expresses Dom Pérignon’s “Power of Creation”.’

Power of Dutch and French creation

Guests in this suite are assured unparalleled personal service, delivered to standards of royalty.
Among the highlights, naturally, will be Dom Pérignon, with a number of highly exclusive bottles and gift boxes, including its most recent Dom Pérignon x Jeff Koons, to be made available by the world-renowned champagne house. To ensure that guests will always be able to this exclusive vintage-only champagne in combination with the perfect food pairings, Dom Pérignon Chef de Cuisine Bernard Dance and La Rive restaurant chef Rogér Rassin have put together a special menu for guests staying in this suite.

The Dom Pérignon Champagne Suite at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam will be available for reservation from 17 October 2013.

About Dom Pérignon

In 1668, the young monk Pierre Pérignon was appointed cellar master of the Abbey of Hautvillers near Epernay. He considered it his personal mission to create ‘the best wine in the world’. Eventually, this young monk would give the champagne house its name. Dom Pérignon was the first ever cuvée de prestige. In fact, it was Dom Pérignon’s stunning success that helped to launch other champagne houses into this upmarket. And yet, Dom Pérignon still stands alone to this day, the benchmark against which all others are measured. Dom Pérignon is and remains the uncrowned king, adored the world over, with a reputation that towers above all. And little wonder: always a vintage champagne – a millésimé – Dom Pérignon is only produced in the very best years.
