Grand Hyatt Washington, located in the heart of Washington, DC in trendy Penn Quarter, completed a $23 million renovation of its guestrooms and expanded its Grand Club lounge to double the size. Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, located just steps from the U.S. Capitol, completed a $19 million redesign of its guestrooms and public spaces.
Grand Hyatt Washington retained New York based interior design company BBG-BBGM, which infused the hotel with a clean and sophisticated design, and a new color palette that nods to the city’s famous cherry blossoms and Potomac River. The renovation and new design encompass all of the hotel’s 897 guestrooms, suites and guestroom corridors, and includes custom in-room artwork that depicts DC’s historic architecture and famous landmarks. In addition to the new design, all guestrooms feature Hyatt Grand Beds with special headboard reading lights, HDMI TV cabling, an iHome stereo with iPod® docking station, extra nightstand outlets for charging electronics, a comfortable leather reading chair with floor lamp, a 42” flat screen TV, a spacious desk with ergonomic desk chair, in-room refrigerator, an in-room safe large enough for laptop storage, energy saving smart thermostats with infrared motion sensors, and upgraded high-speed internet access.
“After many successful years of business in Washington, DC, we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer a fresh and updated product to both our business and leisure guests,” said Grand Hyatt Washington General Manager Dan Amato. “The room accommodations will continue to offer great technical upgrades to our business traveler while maintaining a soothing escape for our leisure guests as they explore our wonderful city.”
The hotel’s Grand Club has been renovated and now offers double the seating capacity. Other enhancements include: new VIP express check-in and check-out reception desk, personal concierge services, a complimentary welcome drink, an afternoon buffet featuring a variety of hot food items and complimentary use of Apple iPads in the club.
Hyatt Regency Washington’s $19 million transformation includes the remodeling all 836 of the hotel’s guestrooms and suites, including bedding, carpeting, wall covering, light fixtures, and new ecoMode ® thermostats that support the hotel’s energy conservation efforts. The remodel also added additional electrical outlets near the work desk and on the base of every lamp to meet today’s technological demands. The new guestroom design offers a modern and residential color palette of black, white and tan, complementing the rich espresso wood furniture and its sleek granite surfaces. In addition, the guestroom corridors offer new carpeting, wall covering and light fixtures that provide a warm welcoming feel to guests as they enter the floors.
As part of the renovation, the hotel expanded its Regency Club lounge to offer additional seating and a new state-of-the-art technology center that includes two iMac workstations, loaded with both Apple OS and Windows 7, as well as a full set of office applications to suit any traveler’s needs. Additionally, the property updated its Capitol Ballroom and Thornton Room, and now offers 6,000 square feet of renovated meeting and event space, popular for off-site meetings, social events, receptions and dinners.
“Our mission at Hyatt Regency Washington is to provide authentic hospitality to all of our customers and guests. With our new renovated product to share, we feel that the hotel’s offerings will make a difference to those we touch everyday,” said Hyatt Regency Washington General Manager Steven Smith.
