Eight of the Group’s hotels achieved Five Star distinction in both the hotel and spa categories; Mandarin Oriental, Boston, Mandarin Oriental, New York, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental, Singapore and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong and were joined by new award-winners Mandarin Oriental, Miami and Mandarin Oriental, Macau. For the first time, Mandarin Oriental, Miami achieved the Forbes Five Star Award across all three categories, for its hotel, spa and restaurant, and becomes the second property within the Group to garner this accolade. Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and Mandarin Oriental, Miami are two of only six hotels worldwide to hold this prestigious honor, the most out of any other hotel group and the only hotels in Miami and Las Vegas to be so awarded. The new Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta, the newly renovated Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. achieved Four Star hotel status.

In addition, out of 35 Forbes Five Star Spas, eight are Spas at Mandarin Oriental, more than any other hotel company. The list includes the Spas at Mandarin Oriental located in Boston, Las Vegas, Miami, New York, together with Singapore, Macau and both hotels in Hong Kong. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. achieved Four Star spa status.

In recognition of the Group’s dining excellence, Twist by Pierre Gagnaire at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and Azul at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, achieved the Five Star award. Three restaurants were awarded a Four Star mark of excellence which include: Asiate at Mandarin Oriental, New York, CityZen at Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C., and Asana at Mandarin Oriental, Boston.

“We are delighted for so many of our properties to have been honoured with the top level of hospitality distinction in the Forbes Five and Four Star awards,” said Michael Hobson, Chief Marketing Officer at Mandarin Oriental. “Ensuring that we operate to the highest possible standards every day, this is truly a testament of our hotels’ legendary service and commitment to excellence.”

According to Forbes, standards for Forbes Five Star Award certifications are exact, and few properties meet them. Within the industry, these awards are highly coveted and highly respected. In 2013, only 76 hotels achieved Forbes Five Star Award status, 28 restaurants and 35 spas have achieved the Forbes Five Star Award.

Forbes Travel Guide’s (formerly Mobil Travel Guide) Star Awards ratings process is based on more than 500 standardized criteria for hotels, restaurants and spas worldwide, making it the most rigorous and comprehensive in the industry. To achieve Forbes Travel Guide Four and Five Star status, properties must meet or exceed the bar-setting service standards, which are determined through an unannounced, undercover service evaluation conducted by Forbes Travel Guide’s expert inspectors.
