The K Club, located near Dublin City Centre and Dublin International Airport, has been honored as a “Top Ten Golf Resort in the World” by CNN. The list, created by self proclaimed golf fanatic and journalist Tony Smart, used four criteria for choosing the world's top 10 golf resorts: golf quality, condition and history of the course; quality and luxury of the accommodations; quality of the food & beverage; and the quality and variety of the other facilities available at the resort. CNN lists The K Club in this prestigious ranking along with other legendary courses as The Old Course Hotel St. Andrew's in Scotland, Pebble Beach, Kiawah Island and Pinehurst. The K Club was the only property in Ireland to make the list.
The K Club features two championship golf courses, both designed by Arnold Palmer. The resort offers golfers an opportunity to play 36 of the most dramatic and challenging holes in Europe. Mr. Smart described the differences in both K Club courses and how the parkland style of the Palmer Ryder Cup Course -- Ireland’s first Ryder Cup course -- features tree lined fairways while the Smurfit Course is wide and open and has a distinctly inland links feel.
Europe's dramatic victory over the US in this year's Ryder Cup has reignited great memories of the 2006 Ryder Cup when the eyes of the world were drawn to Ireland, and to The K Club for its expert hosting of the Ryder Cup. This has been a season of honors for The K Club. In addition to the CNN recognition, The K Club was recently named Ireland's Leading Golf Resort by the World Travel Awards. The resort also was awarded the Gold Metal for Best Wine Experience at the Hotel and Catering Review Gold Medal Awards.
Membership to the Smurfit Course at The K Club is now open.
