Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel is enjoying double success this week, as two of its Managers scoop coveted Marriott awards for their expertise in food and beverage.
Raoul De Souza has been awarded Restaurateur of the Year for the JW Marriott brand globally in the Service Awards for Bar and Restaurant Excellence (SABRE), in recognition of his leadership as Restaurant Manager at JW Steakhouse. Raoul is joined by Nigel Boschetti, Executive Chef, who has been awarded the JW Marriott European Chef of the Year title in the Award of Culinary Excellence (ACE).
Both awards identify and celebrate global restaurant and culinary talent throughout Marriott’s full service hotels, with both Raoul and Nigel now formally recognised as Marriott’s very best culinarians.
Stuart Bowery, General Manager, Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel said, “What incredible recognition for Grosvenor House.
“Since opening JW Steakhouse in 2010, Raoul has established a true destination restaurant in London, through his strong presence and personal service. Raoul works diligently with Head Chef Paul Hallett to uphold menu standards and ensure a fantastic product, leading a team that delivers outstanding service. With Raoul at the helm, it is no wonder that JW Steakhouse has a reputation for the best cheesecake ‘this side of the pond’ and continues to go from strength to strength as a leading American Steakhouse in London.
“Nigel Boschetti is engaging, modern and innovative. He is the first Executive Chef in over 15 years to oversee all food and beverage outlets and banqueting at Grosvenor House, the largest hotel catering operation in the UK. He enthusiastically leads his kitchen brigade and wrestles with the scale and complexities of our landmark hotel in a calm, assured and measured manner. His natural passion and flair consistently pulls through in all that he does, with a constant focus on improving food quality, procuring ethically and managing profit.”
As a result of Raoul’s global Marriott recognition, he has received an exclusive invitation to a food and beverage immersion in the USA in October. The three day trip to Washington DC and New York includes attendance at organised dinners and events where Raoul will have the unique opportunity to meet and engage with industry leaders and influencers.
Stuart Bowery adds, “We are incredibly proud of Raoul and Nigel and I speak for both of them when I say that they are delighted to have been recognised by Marriott at such a high level; it is nothing more than they deserve. Both awards reinforce Grosvenor House’s reputation and standing as a fantastic JW Marriott Hotel. ”
Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel opened its doors to the public in May 1929 and quickly established itself as the glamorous home of the society set and wealthy Americans, attracting a fashionable crowd from Edward VIII and Mrs. Simpson to Ella Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Onassis. Fast forward to 2008 and the hotel culminated one of the most extensive renovation projects of its kind. Thanks to a multi million investment Grosvenor House has resumed its place amongst London’s most desirable hotels and is restored to its former glory, being awarded The Visit London Award for Large Hotel of The Year. The extensive restoration programme includes five bar and four dining options, ranging from traditional American fare in JW Steakhouse to award-winning afternoon tea in the scenic Park Room to Corrigan’s Mayfair, the signature restaurant of celebrity chef, Richard Corrigan.
