Booking Boom and Fare Increase for a Record 29 Sailings
Reservations for Crystal Cruises surged this summer as the ultra-luxe line finished the month with its highest ever August booking week and month in its history. With the expiration of its August 31 “Book Now” fares, travel agents had bookings that generated more than a 110% increase in revenue than any prior years during the same week and for the entire month of August.
Effective September 1, Crystal launched a new “Book Now” deadline of October 31, 2012 for its worldwide lineup of 2012, 2013 and early 2014 cruises. While the new series of “Book Now” fares offer generous bonus savings of as much as US$3000 per person, the line has also increased fares for 29 cruises – representing a record number of increments in any “Book Now” period.
Crystal’s Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales Jack Anderson attributes the booking success to a compelling confluence of factors: Crystal’s unparalleled reputation, strong travel agent support and many powerful initiatives, like its price/all-inclusive value equation, a new contemporary brand campaign, earlier-than-ever release of itineraries and support material, global sales and marketing efforts, the chic “extreme makeover” of its ultra-luxe ships, repeat guest loyalty and referral, attractive family initiatives, and an expanded choice of cruise destinations and lengths of cruises. Veteran cruisers appreciate Crystal’s World Cruise (which is boasting its own record numbers with more than 400 full World Cruisers in 2013) and the ability to enjoy a longer cruise experience when combining cruises without repeating ports. New-to-Crystal cruisers have responded to Crystal’s increased offerings of shorter cruises, as almost 50% of its 2013 cruises are 10 days or less.
“We thank the thousands of travelers and their travel agents who have responded so favorably to this year of new developments at Crystal Cruises,” said Anderson. “We are optimistic about 2013 and beyond, and our guest satisfaction is at an all-time high. It’s a safe bet that cruises are booking ahead of expectations and quite a few itineraries will see prices increase in another 60 days. Once again, we’re stressing, book now.”
