Dean Nakasone, general manager of Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort is proud to announce that the resort is a recipient of the 2012 Hawaii Green Business Award presented by Hawaii’s Governor Neil Abercrombie and the state of Hawaii.
Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort was commended for its continued efforts to protect Hawaii’s pristine environment by committing to conserving water, energy, and other resources. Judges were highly impressed with the meaningful changes undertaken by the hotel that have resulted in reducing the property’s energy consumption by 4,000 kWh per day and saving 624,267 gallons of water annually through improved cooling tower operations.
“It is such a great honor for Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort to receive the prestigious Hawaii Green Business Award,” says Dean Nakasone. “Our strong commitment to protecting Hawaii’s environment and conserving its natural resources has always been a part of the resort’s core values. We share the success with every employee and thank them for their efforts in providing a cleaner and better environment for Hawaii’s residents and visitors.”
By enacting green practices, Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort hopes to inspire other businesses in the state to increase their environmental efforts and protect Hawaii’s precious natural resources.
