Verquin has been named the new owner of the Toulouse Blagnac Holiday Inn hotel following a disposal of the hotel organized by the Tribunal de Commerce of Toulouse since it went under administration in the summer of 2011.

The hotel was built in 2002 in the immediate vicinity of the international Toulouse-Blagnac airport, well known for its aeronautical center that brings together Airbus headquarters with its main suppliers. This 150-room property has always been operated by Intercontinental under the Holiday Inn brand.

Together with an operational reorganization, the entire hotel - including its restaurant and its 500 sq. meters of conference area - will be refurbished in order to meet the latest 4* standards of the Holiday Inn brand.

Verquin also announces the acquisition from the Thomas Cook group of the Explorers Hotel at Disneyland Paris. Built in 2003, this 390-room, 3* property is located on the Disneyland Paris resort area. Over the years, the hotel has built a strong reputation on the leisure market, most notably thanks to its interior decoration and numerous children-oriented attractions. Bedrooms and public areas will soon undergo an important refurbishment program, enabling the hotel to fully benefit from the growing appeal of the area, along with the 20th anniversary of the Disneyland Paris resort.

These two operations are consecutive to Verquin’s first acquisition program of three hotels in the city-center of Reims in June 2011 (the 82-room Holiday Inn, the 66-room Ibis Style and the 126- room Mercure Cathedrale). The first two had been acquired from the Alliance Hospitality group and the third from Accor and Foncière des Murs. Full renovation programs have started on these three assets in order to reach the levels of quality of their respective brands.

Verquin now accounts for five hotels (814 rooms) and is looking forward to create a multi-brand hotel group through the acquisition of hotel properties in major business and/or tourism destinations in France. Verquin hotels are directly operated by Algonquin France.

The Algonquin group now comprises 31 hotels, totalizing more than 4,000 rooms, of which approximately 1,500 under the direct operations of the group.
