Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group appoints Susanne Hatje as Group Director of Residences (China)

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the promotion of Susanne Hatje to Group Director of Residences with immediate effect. Ms Hatje has been promoted to the role from her previous post as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Boston, where she was responsible for successfully positioning both the hotel and residences as Boston’s finest.

In her new capacity, Ms Hatje will be responsible for the global operations of all Residences at Mandarin Oriental and will also provide strategic direction for the Group’s Residences under development around the world. She will be based in the Group’s San Francisco office and report to Richard Baker, Executive Vice President, Operations Director, The Americas.

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Baker said: “Susanne’s exceptional knowledge of our brand, and extensive experience in service and operational excellence, combined with her proficiency in hotel openings and managing The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Boston, makes her ideally placed for this important role. I am confident that Susanne will successfully lead our efforts in establishing and growing Mandarin Oriental’s Residences worldwide.”

Ms Hatje, who has over 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, began her career at Mandarin Oriental in 2000, as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich. She subsequently moved to The Kahala Mandarin Oriental in Hawaii, and in 2004, was appointed as the opening General Manager of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Since 2007, Ms Hatje has been General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Boston which, under her leadership, has achieved the prestigious Forbes Five Star Award and the American Automobile Association’s Five Diamonds, among many other accolades. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Ms Hatje held senior management positions with Kempinski Hotels and The Rafael Group.
