Comprehensive renovation works will be carried out to a series of Steigenberger Hotels over the next 18 months. The ongoing modernisation programmes at Steigenberger Hotels in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Bad Neuenahr will be concluded by mid-2013. The extensive renovation works at the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart were completed at the end of 2011. Wide-ranging modernisation and rebuilding works will be taking place at the Steigenberger Hotels in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Bad Neuenahr until mid-2013. The guest rooms at the two Grand Hotels Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and the Steigenberger Parkhotel in Düsseldorf will be redesigned to provide a new and elegant look. The public areas at the Steigenberger Hotel in Bad Neuenahr have been restored in Belle Époque style. The Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart has undergone a complete overhaul.
Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart
The traditional style Luxury Hotel Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in the heart of Stuttgart has been given a resplendent new look. Around €20 million has been invested over the past year to provide a complete facelift for every part of the establishment from the lobby to the Michelin Star Olivo Restaurant. The programme also focused on the guest rooms, which have been reduced in number from 190 to 155 in the interests of increasing room size. The rooms now sport a classically modern appearance and feature a harmony of darkly coloured woods set off against surface areas of glossy red. Warm hues have been chosen for the textiles and leather coverings used. The hotel’s spa facilities have also been redesigned to create the Zeppelin Day Spa, a 500 m² facility which offers views over the rooftops of Stuttgart and is an ideal place to relax. The Olivo gourmet restaurant has also been given a complete revamp. High-quality parquet flooring, lightly coloured leather chairs and a fireplace lend a classical elegance to a restaurant which has been awarded one Michelin star and achieved a total of 16 points in the Gault Millau.
Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof
The soft furnishings in more than 170 rooms at the luxury Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof have recently been refurbished. A further 71 rooms in the hotel’s Friedensflügel Wing will also be fully renovated by the end of 2012. Reutlingen-based interior designer Cornelia Markus-Diedenhofen was commissioned with the design of the new guest rooms, which are now decorated in warm shades of cream and brown whilst a high-gloss dark wood veneer provides a classy contrast. The hotel’s Hofgarten Restaurant is also being modernised. The highlight of the renovation project will be a new Day Spa of just under 1,000 m² in size, designed by Peter Silling & Associates from Cologne in conjunction with Berlin-based company GOCO Europe and to be completed by January 2013. A total of €30 million is being invested in the modernisation of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof.
Steigenberger Airport Hotel, Frankfurt
The guest rooms in the three wings of the main building at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt are being redesigned. The first remodelling phase took place at the end of January when 84 Superior Rooms were renovated and ten new Board Rooms created. Two further wings of the main building will be modernised over the course of the next two years. All the restructuring works to the hotel will be completed by the middle of 2013. The remodelled Superior Rooms now boast a modern design and clear colours. Interior design works have been the responsibility of Cord Glanz from geplan Design in Stuttgart, who has created new floor plans to open out the bathrooms and lend the rooms a generously proportioned appearance. A fresh apple green colour, leaf motifs and hints of stylised tree rings have been introduced to create an optical reflection of the surrounding city forest in the guest rooms.
Steigenberger Parkhotel in Düsseldorf
The Steigenberger Parkhotel in Düsseldorf has been undergoing extensive renovations since March 2011 whilst still remaining open for business. €10 million is being invested in the redesign of the hotel’s restaurants, bar and public areas and in the renovation of the rooms themselves. Work on 94 rooms and suites has already been completed. Specially commissioned furniture and a combination of friendly shades of beige, brown and blue lend the rooms a classical and elegant look. The hotel lobby has also undergone a full makeover and now features high-quality Crema Marfil limestone flooring, lightly coloured furnishings and a spacious layout. Two historic Louis Vuitton chests which have been converted into tables provide a particularly eye-catching feature. A new restaurant will also be added to the hotel in the form of the “Steigenberger Eck”, a trendy lounge-style bistro which will offer separate access to the famous “Königsallee” shopping street as well as boasting its own terrace. The fine-dining “Menuett” Restaurant and the “Étoile” Bar will also be updated, and a conservatory will be added to the former offering views of the Hofgarten Park and the new Kö-Bogen district. The kitchens of the “Menuett” will also be completely renovated. Works will conclude in August 2012. The new interior design for the Steigenberger Parkhotel has been drawn up by the Cologne-based company Peter Silling & Associates.
Steigenberger Hotel Bad Neuenahr
The Steigenberger Hotel Bad Neuenahr, which is housed in a listed building, has undergone extensive renovations of its bar, lobby and reception areas. The whole of the redesign concept is in keeping with the prevailing style of the late nineteenth century and features aspects such as high ceilings, stucco decorations, chandeliers, dark shades of wood combined with strong colours such as red and golden yellow and luxurious carpets. The design of the furniture also reflects the classical forms of the period. The “Belle Époque” Bar has also had its original ceiling height of nearly five metres restored as part of the renovation works. The exposed stucco decorations have been refurbished and provide an elegant note. The lobby area is characterised by fine-quality Italian stoneware and marble, specially woven carpets and colour details in blue. The overall design is the result of a collaboration between Ilka Heidrich from “architektur design” and Michael Schicker, Head of Interior Design at the Steigenberger Hotel Group. Following the renovation of the West Wing and the entrance area of the Steigenberger Hotel Bad Neuenahr, the plan now is to continue with modernisation works to the restaurant and further rooms in the central block of the hotel.
