Chefs at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, together with guest chef Bernard Goh Eam Seah from Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang, proudly present a 10-day promotion of Penang laksa at Café Kool from 9 to 18 March 2012. The promotion will also feature Char Kway Teow (stir-fried noodles) and Hokkien Mee (Hokkein-style noodle soup) from Penang, prepared with Chef Goh’s secret recipes, at the lunch and dinner buffets.
Live cooking stations are always an attraction at Café Kool, and guests can catch the guest chef in action preparing an authentic bowl of Penang laksa. Chef Goh creates the soup base with an assortment of Malaysian seafood, herbs and spices, including mackerel fish, ginger flowers, kesom leaves, lengkuas, tamarind juice plus a few other exotic ingredients. The distinguished herb asam keping gives the laksa soup a unique sour punch. The noodles will be served with a special sweet, brown and thick prawn paste sauce that is made from a century-old recipe.
Specialising in South East Asian and Nyonya cuisine, Chef Goh has 17 years of professional culinary experience. He has participated in numerous cooking competitions and has received many awards over the years, including the Gold Medal for Battle of the Chefs in Malaysia 2009 (seafood category) and the Overall Champion for Battle of the Chefs in Malaysia 2011 (Maggi Imperial Awards Challenge).
