Fairmont leaders across the Golden State will swap their business suits for toques, aprons, and uniforms over the next few months. Executive level hoteliers from five California Fairmont properties (Fairmont Newport Beach, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Fairmont San Jose, Fairmont San Francisco and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa) will leave their desks and spend a shift “on the floor.”
The program aptly titled “Walk in your Shoes” is the brain-child of Tom Klein, Regional Vice-President of Operations and General Manager of the Fairmont San Francisco. “This annual program provides property leaders with a better understanding and deeper appreciation of the work that our valued colleagues undertake each day in order to surpass the expectations of our guests. This popular initiative allows our executives who often get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of leading, managing, scrambling, listening, negotiating, supervising, facilitating, and convincing to get back to hospitality basics,” shares Klein.
At the Fairmont San Francisco senior-level managers will scrub, polish, greet and sauté on November 21, 2011. Executive Vice-President and General Manager Tom Klein will aptly serve in the hotel’s iconic Laurel Court; Michael Musarra, Hotel Manager will warmly welcome guests to the White House of the West while Regional Controller David Lund will trade in spread sheets for an In-Room Dining Cart.
