The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club’s championship golf course has reopened, and it is even better than ever. The Southwest Florida course was closed June 6-September 1, 2011 so that it could undergo additional enhancements to those made to the course last summer. The 18-hole, par-72 championship course now boasts new grass on all of the fairways. This follows the enhancements in the summer of 2010 which included new grass on 12 of the greens, and on all 18 tee boxes, and new bridges over some of the course’s water features. The design of the course and the yardage remain the same, and the course continues to be open to the public, with discounts provided to guests staying at the resort, according to Head Golf Professional George Willard.

The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club is Southwest Florida’s only beachfront resort to feature an on-site championship golf course, world-class spa, and award-winning tennis center. The resort features 34,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space, and many beautiful outdoor venues.

Built in 1927, the course is Naples’ original golf course. Updated over the years – first by Mark Mahanna in 1948, then by famed golf course architect Ron Garl in 1980, 1993 and 1998 – the course was renovated to enhance the qualities that have always made it so popular, according to Willard.

“The enhancements we’ve made to the course this summer and last summer were designed to enhance play while maintaining the originality of the course that has been our trademark for decades,” said Willard.

Measuring 6,448 yards from the blue tees, the resort’s legendary course is designed for both enjoyment and challenge. The course’s pristine natural setting provides golfers with an incredible sense of serenity. A favorite since it opened, Naples’ original championship course is home to the Florida State Senior Men’s Open Championship, Florida State Senior Women’s Golf Association Championship, and Future Collegiate World Tour, among other events.

Continually enhancing its already-impressive offerings, the 317-room resort completed a $22 million renovation in 2010. The multi-phase project included the renovation of guest rooms and suites, and the addition of a new $5 million beachfront pool complex.

Newly remodeled accommodations now feature cool tropical color linens, fabrics and carpeting; flat-panel televisions; patio or balcony (with a view of the Gulf, golf course or the lush resort interior); coffee maker; and refrigerator.

The new beachfront pool complex features: two pools, two whirlpools, the open-air Poolside bar and grille, restrooms, and locker facilities, as well as a pool/recreational shop. Picturesque tall palms encircle the complex, which is further complemented by direct beach access.

Owned and operated by the Watkins family for 65 years, the resort features: 1,000 feet of pristine white-sand beach; the world-class Spa; a complete Fitness Center; the Mary C. Watkins Tennis Center with six Har-Tru courts; Beach Klub 4 Kids, a recreational program for children ages five to 12; and an Orchid House, home to over 3,000 tropical plants.

In addition, guests can take advantage of an array of great restaurants, including the signature beachfront HB's on the Gulf; The Everglades, providing spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico; and the Seminole Store that serves deli sandwiches, ice cream, gourmet coffees and a variety of freshly baked pizza, pastries and desserts in a café atmosphere.

The resort is just blocks from Naples’ renowned shopping districts of fashionable 5th Avenue South and historic 3rd Street South. Venetian Village, Waterside Shops, Bayfront and Tin City are minutes away.

Groups and guests can experience the area by taking tours of the Everglades, Caribbean Gardens, Corkscrew Swamp, The Botanical Gardens, or the Conservancy Nature Center. Boat and fishing trips also can be arranged at the hotel. Other leisure time activities can include Naples’ outstanding museums, theatres, and art galleries.

Providing a comfortable, friendly atmosphere with impeccable service and first-class amenities, The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club is an exceptional beachfront resort. Resort guests benefit from no resort fees, complimentary self and valet parking, and complimentary fitness center admission.
