St. Regis® Hotels & Resorts, a part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: HOT), today announces one of the world’s most celebrated fashion designers, Jason Wu, as the next St. Regis Connoisseur. Wu, who shares the brand’s passion for modern luxury and effortless elegance, will work as an ambassador for St. Regis by providing a modern fashion perspective for the next generation of luxury travelers, developing exclusive content for St. Regis website and creating beyond expectation fashion experiences for discerning guests around the world.
“Jason Wu has established himself as one of this generation’s most talented fashion designers, and we are thrilled to have him as our next St. Regis Connoisseur,” stated Paul James, Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts and The Luxury Collection®. “His modern and timeless aesthetic perfectly complements St. Regis and will offer our guests a fresh way to interact with and experience the brand through fashion.”
“I am a long-time admirer of the luxurious and elegant St. Regis Hotel & Resorts and am honored to act as a St. Regis Connoisseur,” stated Jason Wu. “The level of quality and attention to detail is the same as that of the Jason Wu Collection, and I look forward to collaborating with the brand on future projects.”
Jason Wu will collaborate with St. Regis to produce exclusive fashion experiences and events around the world including Midnight SupperSM events, a social ritual born when the brand’s founding patroness Caroline Astor would entertain the exclusive elite group which defined New York society during the Gilded Age. The CFDA Fashion Award winner will also develop exclusive content for St. Regis, sharing his fashion and travel inspirations from vibrant cities and exotic resort destinations around the world, including several locations where St. Regis hotels will be opening this year and next in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The partnership with Jason Wu, whose stylish supporters include Diane Kruger, Rachel Weisz and Reese Witherspoon, developed organically over the course of two years, when Wu showed his collection as a breakout designer at The St. Regis® New York during S/S 2010 New York Fashion Week. He went on to show his Resort 2010 in the penthouse and in the same year, he celebrated his birthday with a midnight supper at the flagship hotel. The following fall, Wu attended a milestone event celebrating the debut of St. Regis’ twenty-first hotel, The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico. As a genuine brand enthusiast, Wu calls St. Regis home when he is traveling and entertaining, and has referenced experiences while staying at St. Regis properties within his collections.
Celebrated polo player Nacho Figueras was named the first ever St. Regis Connoisseur last year, and Wu now joins Nacho as the brand’s second Connoisseur. The two ambassadors will further establish St. Regis as an authority in fashion and the international sport of polo, both passions of the brand. St. Regis has taken special care to partner with ambassadors who share the brand’s commitment to excellence and speak to the passions of its guests, while offering an authentic connection to the St. Regis heritage. In the past year, Figueras has enhanced the brand’s presence in the polo arena and offered St. Regis guests access to some of the greatest polo matches and experiences globally, including The St. Regis International Cup in London and the Audemars Piguet International Polo Cup in Singapore. This September, he will play in The St. Regis 1904 Cup, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Greenwich Polo Club and 135 years of American polo.

About Jason Wu
Jason Wu debuted his first Ready-to-Wear Collection in 2006 with a unique and distinctive aesthetic, and through merging American sportswear with old world sophistication he established a supremely feminine and modern sensibility. He has emerged as one of the leading global talents and continues to evolve and grow as a designer. He is influenced by many sources including the classic photography of Richard Avedon, the works of Charles James and Jacques Fath, and also finds inspiration on his travels to Asia, Europe and Latin America as well as an eclectic array of artists including Beatriz Milhazes, Rene Gruau and Barnett Newman. Although only 27, the precocious designer has already achieved many of his aspirations, having been named a finalist in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in July 2008. In June 2010 he won the Swarovski Award for Womenswear at the CFDA Fashion Awards and in April 2011 he was nominated for the CFDA/Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.
