WHERE RIVERS, MOUNTAINS & PEOPLE MEET

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is excited to announce a new catering partnership for corporate events and groups at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre (SLCC), Whistler's most unique and spectacular new venue. It’s a tale of two Nations, the Squamish and Lil’wat Nation, coming together in a dramatic setting to showcase their traditional and modern cultures to local and international visitors. Welcome your guests to the SLCC with traditional ceremonial drumming by Squamish and Lil’wat hosts, or a guided private tour for a truly authentic, inspiring, experience.

Located in the Upper Village directly across from the hotel, it is a spectacular option for an offsite function within easy walking distance for participants. With 22 foot vaulted ceilings and over 30,000 square feet of available function space, the SLCC can accommodate groups of almost any size. The Great Hall, holds up to 300 guests for a reception or 160 for a sit down dinner, and features indigenous art along with a series of 40 foot long, hand-carved cedar canoes which can be lifted up to the ceiling during special events.

On the lower level of the center, Istken Hall is a dynamic octagon shaped room that is the ideal setting for an after dinner dance or wedding reception and offers stunning views of the forest through its all glass siding. Istken Hall can accommodate 250 guests for a reception, or 130 people for a sit down dinner.
Take your party outside onto the 220 foot Mezzanine Deck, the largest in Whistler, to allow your guests unimpeded views of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. With a cozy fire pit located in the middle of the deck, it’s the perfect place to kick off or end your group event.
Kourtney Mckercher, Director of Conference services for The Fairmont Chateau Whistler said, “We are very excited about this new opportunity for offsite events. With its magnificent native artwork and breathtaking views, the venue just sells itself.”

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler hosted its first event at the SLCC this June, and received positive feedback from the participants. “The dinner at the SLCC was world class. All of the guests were so impressed by the Chef’s creation.” Cinda Chung, Manager Corporate Services for Teekay Corporation.
