Kevin M. Hinton, Executive Vice President of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI), has been selected Chairman-Elect of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) for its 2011-2012 fiscal year. Hinton was selected by MPI’s nominating committee, and this nomination has now been approved by the members of MPI. MPI, the meeting and event industry’s largest global community, is comprised of more than 23,000 members belonging to 71 chapters and clubs worldwide. Hinton will take office as Chairman-Elect, and will be a member of the MPI Executive Committee for the International Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2011. He will become MPI Chairman of the Board effective July 1, 2012. He is based in ALHI’s National Sales office in Chicago.

Hinton is Executive Vice President of ALHI, a prestigious National Sales organization that exclusively provides National Sales services and support for its distinctive portfolio of more than 130 Four- and Five-Diamond quality hotels and resorts worldwide to the meetings and incentive marketplace. Featuring a worldwide portfolio of over 100,000 rooms and suites and more than 10 million square feet of meeting space, ALHI (www.alhi.com) provides planners and their organizations experienced National Sales services, and easy and professional one-call local access, to outstanding hotels and resorts which specialize in meetings and incentive programs. There is no cost to planners’ or executives’ organizations to utilize the National Sales services of ALHI, as its members’ dues fund the organization to serve planners.

In his position at ALHI Hinton is responsible for evolving and expanding ALHI’s global solutions for meeting professionals and incentive/recognition specialists located in North America, many of which ALHI has faithfully served for 25 years. Prior to joining ALHI, he served as CEO of hinton+grusich, which was acquired by ALHI in January 2011. In that position he was responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic growth. A highly regarded industry leader and strategist, Hinton is a member of MPI’s International Board of Directors, and served as MPI Chicago Area Chapter’s president, and on its board of directors. Among the many honors he has received was the “President’s Award” from the Chicago Area Chapter of MPI.

“I am very honored to be selected for this position, and really look forward to working with our Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and with the membership of MPI to strategically build upon MPI’s already strong foundation,” said Hinton. “MPI is an exceptional organization and an outstanding resource for all involved in the meetings industry, and I am very excited about leading the team to move our meetings and events industry forward.”

David Gabri, ALHI’s president and CEO, said, “Kevin is the perfect choice to lead MPI, as he is truly a visionary leader, strategic planner, and a passionate MPI advocate who also inspires. He will do an outstanding job.”
