A Hospitality First Within the Kingdom
The five Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts strategically located in Jordan's key historical and leisure locations are the first hotels in the Kingdom to receive Green Globe Certificates, the premier global certification for sustainability
The Jordanian properties include the Movenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, the Moevenpick Resort & Residence Aqaba, the Movenpick Resort & Spa Tala Bay Aqaba and two hotels in Petra, the Movenpick Resort Petra and the Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel. All hotels were recently audited and measured in over 350 norms and standards.
From key indicators on energy usage, water consumption and waste output management to employee training and implementation of customer satisfaction measures, the five properties achieved outstanding results and placed themselves on the global top ranking list of Green Globe
The Regional General Manager of The Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan Bruno Huber said:
"It is the forward thinking and the visionary approach of our owning company, Zara (Holding) Ltd., and the enthusiasm of our employees, that made this goal come true. Considerable investments in alternative energy production, and water and waste management were key in achieving these outstanding results. The Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan are upscale hospitality providers, who take sustainability serious and pro-actively help to protect the environment and cultural elements of our host country."
Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts is aiming for 20 per cent of its hotels, resorts and cruises to be Green Globe Certified by the end of this year and all properties stamped with Green Globe credentials within two years. The strategy is part of a company-wide programme to establish a common and global approach to environmental, employer and social sustainability.
Moevenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea is set on the northern shores of the Dead Sea at the lowest point on Earth. The hotel is a deluxe resort built in traditional village style and offer luxurious rooms, a range of dining and entertainment options, first-class meeting and leisure facilities featuring the renowned ZARA Spa.
Located in the centre of Aqaba, overlooking the Red Sea, the Moevenpick Resort & Residence Aqaba features a mix of European and Arabesque architectural designs, with a feeling of grandeur and luxury.
The Moevenpick Resort & Spa Tala Bay Aqaba is a striking modern property on the idyllic southern shores of the Red Sea, and enjoy year round sunshine.
Located directly at the entrance to the historic city of Petra, the Moevenpick Resort Petra is certainly one of the most notable hotels in the Middle east while the Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel is a 10 minute drive from the entrance to the historic site of Petra, situated in a breathtaking secluded position on a hillside at an altitude of 1,400 metres.
