The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is the first hotel in Spain to offer the acclaimed treatments of foot virtuoso Bastien Gonzalez at the property’s new Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio.
Bastien Gonzalez, who runs his renowned “Pedi:Mani:Cure Studios” in select luxury locations around the world, including London, Paris, Monaco and New York, became passionate about podiatry following a skiing accident, which forced him to undergo extensive physiotherapy treatment. After studying in Paris for three years, Bastien Gonzalez developed a unique method based on three fundamental pillars:
- Podiatry: the podiatric aspect is key in Bastien Gonzalez's treatments, with a special focus on eliminating calluses and advice on proper home upkeep.
- Nail care: Bastien Gonzalez treatments will strengthen and polish nails, with a unique polishing technique inherited from his grandmother. Nails are reshaped and buffed with chamois leather and a pearl buffing cream, resulting in greater blood circulation to the nail leading to enhanced lustre and a natural pink tone.
- Totally relaxing massage: during pedicures and manicures a relaxing massage is performed from toes up to the knee, and from fingers up to the elbow. This gentle massage eliminates stress, improves blood circulation and skin elasticity, and stimulates joints.
The star treatment
"Bastien's Duo" is undoubtedly Bastien Gonzalez's most glamorous star treatment, and is a favourite amongst his cosmopolitan clientele. This hour-long synchronized four-hand treatment takes place in the comfort of a 180-degree reclining armchair, and focuses on nails, hands, feet, -legs and arms. The body comes to life after this perfect choreography at the hands of two therapists in an atmosphere where music, light and fragrances are orchestrated to create a memorable and rejuvenating experience.

The Révérence by Bastien product line, allows guests to pamper themselves at home. Created in conjunction with French cosmetology specialists, Bastien Gonzalez has developed a collection of creams and balms made with natural ingredients and essential oils. These products reflect Bastien Gonzalez's holistic approach to pedicures that aim to pamper, moisturise and protect skin and nails with innovative textures that provide "tactile pleasure". The Révérence product range also includes tools such as a nail file and a special polisher.
