The TravelCom Network is proud to announce the first annual TravelCom Mobile Marketer of the Year Award.
As the featured keynote speaker about “The State of Mobile” at the 2011 TravelCom Conference, Google was honored to present the inaugural award to IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group).
“IHG was awarded for its outstanding work in enhancing the consumer travel experience through its integrated and innovative mobile marketing strategy,” said Michael Slinger, Director, Mobile Ads at Google, Inc.
Submissions for the TravelCom Mobile Marketer of the Year award were gathered over the course of two months and then evaluated by a distinguished panel of mobile advertising experts. IHG was selected as this year’s winner from a wide range of highly innovative travel and hospitality organizations. This year’s finalists included: Salt Lake City CVB, HotelTonight, Open Hospitality, SuperShuttle International, Reno Tahoe USA, Priceline.com, Eldorado Hotel Casino & Silver Legacy Resort Casino, Pennsylvania Tourism Office, Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau and RCI.
“We were excited to create the Mobile Marketer of the Year Award,” said Lane Douglas, CMO of the TravelCom Network. “This is a clear indicator that we’ve finally reached the moment of convergence when both travel consumers are using the platform in significant ways and travel marketers are capitalizing on the platform to drive their businesses to new heights.”
IHG’s mobile strategy centers on enhancing the experience in each step of a traveler’s journey – search, plan, book and stay. They leverage the personal nature of mobile devices to engage guests through new media, mobile applications and optimized web experiences that utilize the consumer’s location, device specific features and preferences. IHG is continuously acting on changes in consumer trends and thus has built an award-winning strategy enabling them to take a strong leadership position in mobile hospitality.
