Banyan Tree Group starts the year on a positive note with over 18 awards and accolades received since the start of 2011. These awards join the growing list of some 655 awards conferred onto Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Spas since its inception 17 years ago. The awards reflect Banyan Tree’s strong global brand and continued focus on innovation as the Group continues its expansion beyond Asia-Pacific.

HOTEL OF CHOICE
In China, Travel & Leisure has named Banyan Tree Sanya and Banyan Tree Hangzhou the Top Ten Luxury Hotel and Best Newly Open Hotel in China respectively. These two resorts continue to be favourites among Chinese travellers, with Banyan Tree Sanya voted as a Star Performer amongst resorts in Sanya, on Hainan island in China’s Hurun Report, Best of the Best Awards 2011. Banyan Tree Hangzhou was awarded The Best Landscape Design in Voyage magazine’s Hotel & Resort Best Value Awards. Not to be outdone, relative newcomer Angsana Fuxian Lake also secured its position as The Best Romance Resort in the recent 2010 Best Value Brand Awards ceremony organised by Bosh Magazine, one of the influential lifestyle magazines in Yunnan.

These awards and accolades further boost the Group’s growing presence in China, and is a sign of its success in having pioneered and delivered unique travel experiences. The Group currently operates six resorts in China and will be opening Banyan Tree Macau, Banyan Tree Riverside, Shanghai, Banyan Tree Tianjin and Angsana Hangzhou later this year. This growth is in line with the Group’s pipeline of upcoming properties and spas in China under the Banyan Tree and Angsana brands.

Banyan Tree Mayakoba, located in the vibrant Riviera Maya, Mexico, has also been given the nod by travellers on TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2011, garnering a total of seven accolades. It has been named as one of the Top 25 Hotels in the World, as well as one of the most romantic hotels in the Caribbean and Mexico, and in the World. The resort also garnered significant recognition for being the most luxurious hotel and one of the top relaxation and spa hotels in the region and globally, and for its high service standards.

EMBRACING THE ENVIRONMENT, EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has been named second in British Airways High Life’s Top 5 Green Hotel Chains, which recognises the Group’s contributions and efforts in protecting the environment whilst operating its hotels and resorts around the world.

HOLISTIC WELLNESS, SANCTUARY FOR THE SENSES
On the spa front, the multi-award-winning Banyan Tree Spa once again affirms its position as one of Asia’s leading spa operators after being awarded Best Spa Brand, for the fifth consecutive time, by the prestigious Hurun Report’s Best of the Best Awards 2011. Banyan Tree Spa Shanghai and Angsana Spa Hotel Nikko Shanghai also clinched the top spot as Best Spa and Best New Spa respectively, by Travel & Leisure China. In addition, despite having been in operation for only six months, Banyan Tree Spa Samui has been awarded the Best Spa Center in the world by Russian travel publication, Afisha Mir.
