Industry veteran joins firm to expand client service throughout the Americas

Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels today announced it has added industry analytics and valuation innovator Greg Hartmann, MAI, CHA to the firm’s ranks as Executive Vice President in the firm’s Strategic Advisory and Asset Management business. In his new role, Hartmann will drive the growth of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ advisory capabilities throughout the Western United States and its hotel valuation practice nationally. Hartmann will partner with Clay Dickinson, who holds responsibility for leading the firm’s advisory business in the Eastern United States and South America. Both Hartmann and Dickinson will report to Bruce Stemerman, leader of the firm’s overall Strategic Advisory and Asset Management business.

“Greg will add considerably to our advisory and asset management businesses with his extensive experience and impressive track record in the hotel sector,” said Stemerman. “While Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels has long held a prime position in the hotel investment sales and financing business, we have also become an industry leader in providing advisory services. Our clients rely on Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels for advice and guidance on a wide range of issues relating to operations, asset management, strategic planning, underwriting and due diligence and valuation, among other matters. Greg is one of the industry’s best known and most well respected experts, and his experience in literally thousands of markets will greatly contribute to our already robust advisory business as the economic recovery continues to take hold in the hotel sector.”

During his 30-year career in lodging, Hartmann has appraised or advised on more than 12,000 hotels including dozens of asset pools ranging from two to more than 600 hotels and many of the most noted asset and portfolio deals in the lodging industry.

Previously, Hartmann was Managing Director at HVS International where he founded and built a 20-person office in Colorado. He also was a principal in HVS’ offices in Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Denver, Mexico and specialty divisions in Hotel Management, F&B Consulting, Investment Banking, Golf Services and Convention Facilities before creating STR Analytics. Through STR Analytics, Hartmann, and the team he assembled, developed and distributed multiple comprehensive and compelling asset and investment management tools that are being used by hundreds of hotels globally.

“I am so fortunate to have spent the last quarter-century working with Steve Rushmore and Randy Smith, the two icons responsible for our industry’s hotel real estate valuation methodology and operational performance benchmarking metrics, respectively," said Hartmann. “I now have a unique opportunity to partner with Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ executive team, and to offer direct access to debt and equity transactions with asset management and advisory expertise depth and the scope of an international firm. Our combined experience will deliver the most actionable operational insights and dynamic real estate strategies available to help our clients minimize risk, maximize returns and sustain value over the next decade."

Hartmann holds the designations of MAI from the Appraisal Institute and CHA from the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Hartmann also was adjunct professor of hotel management and served as Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Tourism at the Leeds School of Business in the University of Colorado. He also was the angel investor and sits on the Board of Directors of Sustainable Cards LLC, which manufactures and distributes environmentally friendly hotel key and gift cards.

Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ addition of Hartmann also represents an expansion in a key region of the country as Hartmann will be located in Denver, Colorado focused on the firm’s Western client base.
