-- Less than 4 percent of the 31,000 properties approved by AAA achieve this distinction --
Northern Quest Resort & Casino, the Inland Northwest's newest destination resort, has been awarded the prestigious Four Diamond Award from AAA for 2011. Joining the property's designation is Masselow's Restaurant, which has also received a stand-alone AAA Four Diamond Award.
Northern Quest and Masselow's join an illustrious group of just 26 lodgings and five restaurants in the entire state to receive this acknowledgement. And the 250-room luxury hotel is the only Native-owned property in the Inland Northwest to receive this recognition.
"We are delighted and humbled to receive this amazing accolade from AAA," says Raymond Pierre, Vice-Chairman of the Kalispel Tribal Business Council. "This exemplifies the belief of the Kalispel Tribe that a warm, genuine welcome combined with top-notch service and attention to detail will be recognized and appreciated."
The property indeed opened as a humble 50,000 square-foot casino in December 2000. In the 10 years since opening, Northern Quest has grown with four expansions and the construction of a parking garage.
Featuring the latest technology in a contemporary urban setting, Northern Quest Resort & Casino includes the Kalispel Conference Center, the full service Current Spa and Salon, and 14 restaurants and lounges, as well as a 46,000 square-foot casino with more than 2,000 slots and progressives, 37 table games, live poker, Keno, and off-track betting. The Kalispel Conference Center and Pend Oreille Pavilion feature world-class entertainment and 16,000 square feet of professional event and meeting space.
Masselow's Restaurant
Masselow's opened with the hotel expansion in January of 2010. Modeled after the caves on the Kalispel Reservation, the restaurant offers guests an earthy, traditional ambiance. Receiving the AAA Four Diamond Award less than a year after opening is a reflection of Masselow's exceptional quality and service.
Chief Masselow was the Tribe's leader, who was pressured by the U.S. Government to move the Tribe away from their native homeland to a distant reservation. Under his steady and peaceful leadership, the besieged Tribe stayed together. Masselow retired in 1912, two years before the tribe received its reservation through an executive order by President Woodrow Wilson.
Masselow's Restaurant offers guests a taste of Kalispel tradition in an upscale, refined atmosphere. Featuring Northwest contemporary cuisine, Masselow's serves the freshest specialty and seasonal items.

About the Kalispel Tribe of Indians
Once one of the poorest Native American tribes in the U.S., the Kalispel Tribe of Indians is now one of the top ten private employers in the Spokane region. The historically humble and hospitable tribe operates Northern Quest Resort & Casino, the region's premier destination resort. Tribal health and social service programs, supported by the resort, have increased the quality and life expectancy for tribal members and surrounding communities near the tribe's reservation along the Pend Oreille River. The tribe maintains a number of other business enterprises, provides a total of 2,000 jobs, and has donated over $5 million to regional non-profit organizations.
