A changing of the guard for Sofitel in Shanghai with the departure of The Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong and the arrival of a new flagship Sofitel for this key city (China)

Sofitel Luxury Hotels, Asia Pacific has announced that, effective 31 December 2010, it will cease to manage Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong. This timing coincides with the end of the management agreement.

Commenting on the move, Mr. Markland Blaiklock, Senior Vice President, Sofitel Asia Pacific said “Sofitel Luxury Hotels has maintained strong and proud relations with Jin Jiang Group for over 10 years and throughout the 8 years in which we have managed the Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong. We are disappointed to see this hotel exit the network as the management contract term draws to completion, however delighted to see the arrival of a flagship property Sofitel Shanghai Jing'an Huamin which is soon to open."

Sofitel Shanghai Jing’an Huamin with its iconic design and stunning facilities is set to be one of the city’s most luxurious hotels. The newly constructed hotel will occupy 32 of the new building's 61 floors, offering 515 rooms - 82 of them suites. The dining experiences will include a lobby lounge, an all-day dining café and a signature Chinese restaurant. Sofitel Shanghai Jing’an Huamin will also feature a full 1,500-sq. meter wellness centre, with a So SPA, a So FIT, an indoor pool and a beauty salon. In addition, 2,900-sq. meters on the 3rd level will be dedicated for events, featuring a grand ballroom, a junior ballroom, a variety of configurable spaces and a business center.

The spokesperson of Shanghai East Jin Jiang Hotel Co. Ltd, Mr. Zuo Shen, commented “We are extremely grateful to Sofitel Luxury Hotels for their management of this hotel, which has enjoyed excellent business and recognition since its opening 8 years ago.”
