Dolce Hotels and Resorts, operator of 27 upscale hotels, resorts and conference hotels in North America and Europe, has appointed Wayne Carney to the new position of vice president, property finance.
Wayne Carney 12-2010.jpgHe is responsible for driving property profitability and overseeing property financial and accounting functions including standards, systems, forecasting, cash management, labor management, analysis, portfolio reporting, field support, finance talent development and property transitions.
He formerly served Marriott International Inc. for 28 years in a number of management roles. From 2007 to 2010, he was regional senior director of finance and accounting for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company for the Southeast, Caribbean and Latin America.
His Ritz-Carlton responsibilities included oversight of 21 properties, condominium residences, a casino and Ritz-Carlton Club operations. He was responsible for new unit openings, budgeting, capital planning, financial reporting, controls, audit compliance and financial training..
From 2004 to 2007, Carney was director of finance and accounting for the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, the largest convention hotel in Washington, D.C., where his responsibilities included capital planning, owner reporting, year-end audit, internal controls, annual business plan, forecasting and analysis and payroll.
He was director of finance and accounting for the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington from 1998 to 2004. From 1982 to 1988, Carney held assignments in Charlotte, N.C.; Hamburg, Germany; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He also served on Marriott task forces at hotels in Baltimore and Warsaw, Poland.
Carney earned a master of business administration degree from Loyola University, Baltimore, and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. He is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.
He is past president of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, Greater DC/MD/VA Hotel Chapter.
