W Hotels, the New York-Born Hotel Brand, Creates VIP Lounge 14-17 October at Elle Fashion Week Bangkok presenting Fashion Next a Global Fashion Initiative that Supports Emerging Designers

W Hotels Worldwide, as part of its global fashion program Fashion Next ,made its debut this week with the first ever W Hotels VIP Lounge at Elle Fashion Week. Over four days, W Hotels hosted exclusive insider experiences to showcase the brand’s passion for fashion, music, and design including: the debut of its exclusive, limited-edition fashion collection created by 34 established and emerging designers for W Hotels The Store (W’s twist on the traditional hotel gift shop); the appointment of a renowned fashion expert as W Hotels’ first ever Global Fashion Director’ and a preview of the design of W Retreat Koh Samui, scheduled to open in November 2010.

And we are thrilled to celebrate for the first time the W brand’s debut in Thailand during Elle Fashion Week. W Hotels VIP Lounge – a Hot Spot for Celebrities and Trendsetters

For 13 seasons, W Hotels has hosted a VIP Backstage Lounge backstage at New York Fashion Week. The W Lounge quickly became known as the most sought-after spot for celebrities and fashion’s elite including Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham, Justin Timberlake and Dianne von Furstenberg, to mix, mingle and relax in style in between shows. As W Hotels continues its expansion in Asia Pacific, it will head from New York to Elle Fashion Week Bangkok for the very first time. This introduction of W’s lifestyle using the international language of the brand’s passion for fashion, music and design will help to create brand awareness. W’s VIP Lounge will be located in a private event space in where celebrities, designers, jet setters and fashion’s elite take in special performances and surprise events.

W Hotels Announces the Appointment of its First Ever Global Fashion Director

W Hotels Worldwide introduces an industry first, the appointment of international stylist and fashion authority Amanda Ross as the brand’s first ever Global Fashion Director. In this role Ross serves as a strategic fashion advisor to the brand, providing global insight and guidance for an integrated, cutting-edge approach to fashion. A respected industry veteran, Ross provides an authentic point of view for W, fostering industry relationships and identifying partnerships and collaborations that will make W Hotels a credible player within the fashion industry. She will work closely with W Hotels The Store, W’s twist on the traditional hotel gift shop, including Global Glam, a newly launched fashion and accessories collection created exclusively for W by established and emerging designers inspired by the design of W’s latest hotels.

Over the years, W has collaborated with some of fashion’s most elite, including Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg, and Gwen Stefani. Last fall, W formed an exclusive partnership with renowned department store Barneys New York and its creative director Simon Doonan to create an exclusive window display at W New York – Union Square. W has also redefined traditional hotel retailing with the creation of W Hotels The Store, a trendsetting collection of boutique stores that sell designer apparel, jewelry, accessories, home and design items in W Hotels around the world and online. Recently, W Hotels The Store unveiled Global Glam, another industry first, that is inspired by the design of W’s newest hotels and retreats. The first Global Glam collection (Fall/Winter 2010) featured exclusive designs for W by Alex and Ani, Foley + Corrina, and Lauren Merkin, while the second Global Glam collection, debuting in stores April 2010, will feature pieces from Rebecca Minkoff, DANNIJO, Dolce Vita and Yumi Kim, among others.

During the ELLE Fashion Week in Thailand this week, Amanda will take the opportunity to meet with young and upcoming designers in Thailand, to explore possible opportunities to work with them on W’s Global Glam collections in the future.
