Sol Meliá, the leading hotel company in Spain, has emphasised its commitment to market leadership new technologies with the launch of three free booking apps for the iPhone, Blackberry and Android smartphones, in addition to the pioneering mobile website presented at the beginning of the year which has already received over a million visits.
The hotel company is also the first in the industry to introduce a booking app for the for the Google mobile Android operative system, and is the only company to provide a solution for the market’s three leading smartphone systems. The app is available in English and Spanish and allows iPhone, Blackberry and Android users to quickly and easily book a room in any of the more than 300 Sol Meliá hotels worldwide. The system also allows users to locate the nearest hotels to their current location thanks to GPS systems as well as managing their mas rewards loyalty programme account.
The company thus delivers on its commitment to remain leaders in new technology as part of a strategic plan to develop and consolidate its mobile products. The first step was the launch of a mobile-ready online booking solution which has attracted more than a million visits since the first quarter, the majority searching for and booking city hotels at the last minute.
Sol Meliá continues to develop exclusive campaigns for its mobile booking site as part of its sales and loyalty strategies. According to the Sol Meliá Vice President of Global Distribution and E-commerce, David Wright, “we wanted to open up access to bookings on mobile phones to our customers regardless of the phone they may have.
