The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, has captured Medical Meetings magazine’s prestigious “2010 M&D Award,” which honors the 40 hotels, resorts, and conference centers in North America that were chosen by readers for merit and distinction in serving the needs of medical meeting planners. Readers voted for the hosts that best handled their meetings or conventions in the previous 12 months, based on each property’s guest room quality, meeting rooms, catering and convention services, and audiovisual/technical support. The winning hotels and resorts are recognized in the July/August 2010 issue of the magazine.
Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the 301-room Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Mark Schwantner, general manager of The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, said, “Receiving honors like the prestigious ‘M&D Award’ recognizes what an outstanding facility and staff we have at The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village. We take pride in the exceptional service we provide to our groups and guests, as well as our outstanding resort and recreational offerings, so we’re truly honored when we’re recognized with such prestigious awards.”
This award follows other honors recently captured by the Northeast Florida resort. The resort recently received Meeting & Conventions magazine’s highly-coveted “2010 Gold Tee Award,” which recognizes the finest golf/meeting properties in the world, as selected by the magazine’s readers. The resort also was recently named one of the “Top 80 Golf Resorts” in the world, and one of the “Top 10 Florida Golf Resorts,” in a readers’ poll in Condé Nast Traveler magazine. In the Condé Nast Traveler readers’ poll, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village was one of just two resorts in the list to earn perfect scores of 100 for both the design of their golf courses and the quality of their golf staff and services.
Located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village right next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort completed a comprehensive $10 million renovation in 2008. The project included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium and entry area, remodeling all guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center with new state-of-the-art equipment, remodeling of its billiard room, and enhancements to the meeting space and business center. The resort also remodeled its restaurant and bar, which opened as a new restaurant and bar called 500 South.
Guest rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, and warm neutral gold accents. In-room offerings include flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions; the signature Marriott JackPack, which provides connectivity for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players; high-speed Internet access; two telephones with data ports; a wet bar; refrigerator; and in-room coffee.
The resort features a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which has a Colonial/Asian theme, as well as a colorful 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.
Whether you’re seeking a golfer’s paradise or a lush resort getaway, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village has something for everyone. Featuring a wealth of recreational offerings that appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike, the resort enables you to play golf on two of the country’s finest golf courses (King & Bear, and Slammer & Squire), experience the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy, relax on a nearby beach, and explore the wonders of America’s oldest city, St. Augustine.
