Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has announced the late 2010 opening of W Taipei, marking another milestone in W’s global expansion into the world’s most exciting and vibrant destinations. Located in the buzzing central business district of Xinyi, W Taipei will introduce the “lifestyle hotel” concept to one of Asia’s hippest and most cosmopolitan cities, tapping into the pulse of Taipei’s nightlife scene, where the city’s music, fashion and entertainment industries converge.

“We are delighted to bring the W lifestyle to Taipei,” said Eva Ziegler, Global Brand Leader, W Hotels Worldwide and Le Méridien. “W Taipei will become the venue of choice for discerning and style-conscious trendsetters who want to be wowed by the finer things in life – particularly those inspired by W brand’s unique mix of contemporary cool design, modern comfort, and innovative style.”

Rising 30 floors, W Taipei will be the only hotel in Taipei with a panoramic vista of the hip and happening Xinyi district. W Taipei will serve as the ultimate city getaway, where a veritable “urban beach” flirts with the senses at every touch point and natural elements combine to complement modern digital accents.

Designed by London-based G.A. Design International Ltd., W Taipei’s 405 guestrooms and suites will be among the largest of Taipei’s luxury hotels, each a private sanctuary with spectacular urban views. W Taipei guests will luxuriate in the signature W Bed with 350-thread-count linens, relax with Bliss® Spa amenities, and indulge in W Taipei’s tempting Munchie Box, a premium-stocked mini bar, plush bathrobes, separate bathtub and rainforest shower. W Taipei’s state-of-the-art in-room technology includes high-speed wired and wireless Internet access; flat-screen, 42-inch LCD televisions; Bose sound systems; charging iPod docks; IP phone; and voicemail.

Taiwan’s newest scene to be seen at, W Taipei will feature an eclectic assortment of signature restaurants and lounges, exclusive W Happenings and DJ mastery, W The Store, and an array of foodie favorites from around the world. The Kitchen Table will tantalize with a broad menu of spicy and aromatic tandoor dishes, wood-fired pizzas, stylish salads, succulent seafood and grill dishes. Outside on the WET sky deck, al fresco dining means an urban barbecue overlooking Taipei’s Technicolor city lights.

On the 31st floor, W brand’s Cantonese restaurant, Yen, will make its debut with a slick bar for sipping and flirting plus delicate dim sum, sensational seafood, signature soups, tantalizing desserts -- and five private dining rooms for more intimate affairs.

Exclusive experiences and services at W Taipei will include 24-hour Whatever/Whenever® concierge service that pushes the limits in making the dreams of guests come true, whether it’s a helicopter ride over the city, cooking lessons from a celebrity chef, or a private session with a feng shui master. Guests will also be able to sip cocktails in the W Living Room; enjoy preferred dining reservations and seating at W’s Kitchen Table or Yen; take care of business at Wired, the 24-hour business center; or be whisked away at the WETSM outdoor heated pool, Sweat Fitness® center, and aWaySM Spa, an urban escape for the senses.
