Award-winning Chef Chai Chaowasaree brings a sumptuous selection of award-winning, Hawaii regional cuisine to meetings and events at the Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki hotels

Outrigger Reef on the Beach and Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach unveiled a new catering option this week from top local chef, Chai Chaowasaree. The menu features the best of Pacific Rim cuisine and brings local favorites from Chai’s Island Bistro and Singha Thai Cuisine to corporate meetings and social functions held at the hotel’s assorted event venues.

“By partnering with Chef Chai, Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki now offer our guests a first-class setting and equally impressive menu for their next meeting or special event,” said Patsy Narimatsu, director of sales and marketing for the Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki hotels. “Whether planning for the perfect wedding or important business meeting, this fusion of a world-renowned caterer with our gracious beachfront hotels ensures many memorable events and happy patrons.”

Chef Chai’s innovative Pacific Rim-inspired dishes have earned him awards in Hawaii and nationally. Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Sunset, Bride and Travel & Leisure magazines have all praised Chef Chai’s regional cuisine and he has traveled to New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Aspen, where he shared secrets of his signature island dishes.

“As a chef, I communicate hospitality through food, so I’m especially looking forward to catering at Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki, because I know that their teams are equally dedicated to providing excellent service with aloha to all of their guests,” said Chef Chai Chaowasaree. “We prepare and assemble all of our menu items on the spot, so patrons are guaranteed unique island flavors and ultimate freshness.”

For more formal dining, event planners can choose from several five-course dinner menus to meet a variety of palettes and budgets. Guests can start with vegetarian spring rolls or Alaskan king crab cakes before moving onto braised boneless beef short-ribs with Hawaiian taro and kabocha pumpkin or grilled Atlantic king salmon with truffle Madeira sauce. Other highlights include a five-course dégustation menu, pairing international wines with Chef Chai’s signature dishes.

From fresh island fish to organic, locally grown produce, Chef Chai and his team combine local seafood, meats, herbs and vegetables into an unforgettable dining experience.

For groups seeking lighter fare, the new catering menu also features two heavy pupu menus. From Thai curry puffs with fresh mango salsa to sun-dried tomato and Puna goat cheese wontons, the pupu menus allow groups to sample the full gamut of Chef Chai’s culinary prowess at an exceptional value.

Included with all dining packages at Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki is all silverware, linen napkins, exceptional wait staff and service, as well as on-site cooking by Chef Chai himself for some of the items. Tax and gratuity of 20 percent will be added at the time of service. For more information and to view available menus, log on to www.outrigger.com/chefchai.

Outrigger Reef on the Beach is ideally situated between world-famous Waikiki Beach and Waikiki Beach Walk®, the entertainment center of Waikiki. The new menu is set to compliment the hotel’s recent $110 million makeover, featuring the property’s all-new Voyager Deck and adjacent indoor function venue, boasting 6,000 square feet of prime event space. For smaller gatherings, Diamond Head Terrace offers a more intimate venue. All meeting rooms feature fresh wall-to-wall carpet, walk coverings, air walls and free wireless Internet.

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach commands one of the best locations on Waikiki Beach, with stellar views of world-famous Diamond Head and offering every comfort expected from a deluxe, first-class hotel, including three unique function venues. The Kalakaua Room is ideal for smaller conferences of less than 30 guests and offers abundant natural light with views overlooking world-famous International Marketplace and Kalakaua Avenue. The Leahi Room is the largest meeting space at Outrigger Waikiki and neatly divides into two similarly-sized breakout rooms, enabling this function area to comfortably accommodate anywhere from 24 to 100 guests. Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach’s Suite 123 has a seamless indoor/outdoor design that captures the breathtaking beauty of Waikiki, including incomparable vistas of the beach, the ocean, Diamond Head and dramatic sunsets. The large lanai of Suite 123 is ideal for an outdoor wedding ceremony or sunset reception.

Outrigger’s staff works with meeting planners to custom design each menu to meet the individual tastes and needs of the client. The Outrigger staff caters menus for intimate groups and larger parties with an equal eye for service and excellence.
