New GMs in Mui Ne and Quy Nhon set to build on success
Life Resorts is building on recent accolades and the launch of its newest property with two key management appointments for 2010, both affecting properties on Vietnam’s south central coast.
In Mui Ne, Australian Shane McKirdy takes the helm as general manager of the Life Resort-managed Blue Ocean Resort. McKirdy spent the previous 12 months as GM just up the coast at the Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon.
Meanwhile in Quy Nhon, fellow Australian Anthony Quin takes over at Life Wellness Resort. Prior to arriving in Quy Nhon, Quin was based in Vanuata in the South Pacific. He has also worked in Fiji, Dubai, Qatar and Canada.
Late last year, Life Heritage Resort Hoi An won acclaim in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards as one of the 25 ‘Top Resorts’ in Asia, and the top resort in Vietnam. The Central Vietnam property was also added to the Conde Nast Gold List in early 2010, one of only three Vietnamese properties to be so recognized.
At Blue Ocean, McKirdy will be backed by a multilingual new assistant resort manager Stephanie Duerrstein, whose fluency in French, German, English and Spanish speaks to the broad demographic attracted by the Mui Ne property, specifically, and Life Resorts in general.
“As any sports coach will tell you, you strengthen your team when you’re on the way up, “ said Chris Duffy, general director of Life Resorts. “Last year was challenging from a worldwide economic perspective, but the right people in the right positions excelled and our efforts were recognized.”
The appointments arrive hot on the heels of Life Resort Danang’s grand opening. While many resort developments stumbled through the recession, the new Life Resort Danang kept pace with original plans and emerged as the first new resort to open on the hottest stretch of beach in Vietnam.
Duffy cites the latest appointments as a mix of the tried-and-tested and new blood adding further dimensions to resorts.
“It’s about creating excitement and an unmatched experience for the guest,” said Duffy. “You can never be satisfied with what you have – you always want to improve.”
