Poolside butlers, 200-foot waterslides, National Geographic Explorers Camp, dive-in movies, great food and great deals all add up to one fun summer for families at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The AAA Five Diamond resort is kicking off its lineup of summer vacation activities Memorial Day weekend, May 28, 2010, where kids can navigate a GPS to discover desert treasures, go on photo and video safaris, and meet real-life National Geographic explorers.

This award-winning kids' camp, designed specifically for Fairmont Scottsdale by National Geographic experts, offers discovery-based activities for resort guests, children ages 5-12, with half-day and full-day sessions. Campers play on gigantic, highly-detailed maps (the largest ever created by National Geographic), and have hands-on fun in the Mad Scientist Lab and with Eco Art 'n' Crafts.

Best of all, three world-renowned National Geographic explorers will share stories of their adventures on holiday weekends, interacting with youngsters at camp and giving special presentation at an afternoon ice cream social for the whole family. Wildlife naturalist and Nat Geo WILD TV host Casey Anderson visits Saturday, May 29 for Memorial Day weekend; filmmaker Michael Davie is on tap Saturday, July 3 for Fourth of July weekend and National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths comes on Saturday, September 4 for Labor Day weekend.

Summer room rates at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess begin at $159 per room, with a daily $50 dining credit, through September 6, 2010. The value-packed National Geographic vacation package includes a half-day camp session and breakfast for up to three children, starting at $189 per room, per night. The camp is available a la carte starting at $20 per child, for overnight guests.

Families also enjoy 200-foot waterslides, "dive-in" movies, fishing, basketball, teen "Hang Out" and visits from mascots "Arizona Jones" and "Bobcat Billy."
