Hospitality chain Park Hotel Group has clinched the “Best Hotel” award at the prestigious Asia Pacific Property Awards 2010, with the honour going to its newest hotel in Singapore, Park Hotel Clarke Quay.

Not only did the 10-month old hotel clinch an award in the “Hotel Construction & Design (over 50 rooms)” category, it topped the Singapore category and was the only Singapore hotel among the seven winners in the Asia Pacific region.

The Asia Pacific Property Awards is part of the International Property Awards in association with Bloomberg Television, the world’s most prestigious competition established 16 years ago to honour the best real estate developments across the globe.

“Winning the award is an immense validation of excellence in the highly competitive Asia Pacific arena. Crowned as the top hotel in Singapore – and the only winner from the island -
- with a property launched less than a year ago is testimony to the spirit of the team and our vision to be a global hospitality player,” said Allen Law, Director of Park Hotel Group.

The entries were judged by a panel of distinguished industry professionals.

Stuart Shield, President of the International Property Awards, said, “Once again I’ve been staggered by the excellence shown by the winning companies across the Asia Pacific region and, indeed, the overall quality of entries throughout. “

The award-winning Park Hotel Clarke Quay’s architecture is a contemporary take on Singapore’s colonial architecture reminiscent of the 1800s. As the first greenfield hotel project of the Group, Park Hotel Clark Quay’s architecture marks a brave departure from the typical minimalist modernist architecture prevalent in Singapore.

The distinctive striking red-tiled roof with three spires crowns the modern yet ornate façade. The 10-storey hotel also features intelligent lighting, accentuating the interiors of the rooms and illuminating a stunning façade that offers a refreshing change to the skyline of the riverfront area.

Park Hotel Clarke Quay is one of Park Hotel Group’s three properties in Singapore, the other two being Grand Park City Hall and the upcoming flagship property, Grand Park Orchard, which is opening this July. The 308-room Grand Park Orchard hotel, together with its stunning four-storey retail podium, Knightsbridge, is the crown jewel of Park Hotel Group.

In addition to its three Singapore hotels, Park Hotel Group’s footprint extends to Kunming, Wuxi and Xian in China; Hong Kong as well as Otaru in Japan. The Group is committed to a programme of continued expansion and targetsopening 10-12 new properties in the next three to five years. These include additional investments in Japan and China, plus interests extending to other prominent destinations in Asia Pacific, as well as Singapore.
