A new wing, for a new take-off… After three years of construction work and investments totalling 72 million euros, the opening of the Majestic Barrière's extension on March 15th is a major landmark in the life of this palatial hotel. An outstanding achievement, combining the incomparable luxury of a 5-star establishment with the unparalleled charm of the Côte d’Azur, to meet the expectations of the most demanding clientele…

44 suites… 2 penthouses… right at the water's edge

Thanks to this stupendous extension of 10,000 m2, the Majestic Barrière now offers 44 new apartments, including two extraordinary penthouses, which join the 305 existing rooms and suites, all entirely revamped two years ago.

Situated on the 6th and 7th floors, facing the sea, these two suites – the Christian Dior Suite and Majestic Suite – offer almost 450 m² each and can be connected to form a single apartment of 900 m². Totally unprecedented on the Croisette !

The Majestic Suite also benefits from a solarium terrace of 150 m² with a swimming pool 11 metres long. Entirely decorated by Pascal Desprez, the renowned interior designer who has worked with the Lucien Barrière Group for many years, this suite is a subtle blend of luxury and casualness. Brown wood is set off by light, acidulous colours to recall the spirit, both refined and modern, of the world of yachting. The panoramic view of the Bay of Cannes helps to perfect the illusion…

As for the Christian Dior Suite, it has been entirely designed in the style of 30 avenue Montaigne, in homage to the creator of the New Look. The Majestic Barrière has, in fact, worked in close collaboration with the Parisian couture house to enable Nathalie Ryan to make this suite the purest possible evocation of French-style luxury.

New business amenities

The enlargement of the Majestic Barrière will not only make it possible to raise the hotel's capacity in terms of accommodation ; it will also guarantee a more extensive range of amenities, particularly for business clients. They will thus dispose of two new salons – the Joy and Alexandre salons – and also a boardroom - the Naoura – which, thanks to its very high level of equipment and prestige, will be able to host top-notch encounters and board meetings.

Facilities for seminars and congresses will also be reinforced with the "Martha Barrière" room. Offering a surface area of 350 m², plus a foyer of 220 m² to accommodate breakfasts and cocktail buffets, the "Martha Barrière" room will be able to welcome almost 350 guests in "theater" layout and almost 600 guests for cocktail parties. Designed by Pascal Desprez and endowed with the latest technological innovations, it offers an incomparable view of the Croisette and the bay, making it a truly exclusive proposal on the luxury hotel market in Cannes.

La Petite Maison at the Majestic Barrière

From April 1st, 2010, fans of gastronomic cuisine will have a choice of two gourmet restaurants at the Majestic Barrière. Le Fouquet’s Cannes, which has been treated to a brand new decor during the winter and a new menu in classic "brasserie" style, will henceforth be joined by La Petite Maison de Nicole, Cannes' very own out-post of La Petite Maison – the renowned address in the Old Town of Nice which has treated its guests for over two decades to Mediterranean cuisine of unequalled quality and taste.

The U-Spa Barrière with Sisley

Also from the month of April, the Majestic Barrière's clients will discover a spa, unique on the Côte d’Azur : the U Spa Barrière – almost 450 m² exclusively dedicated to beauty care, relaxation and fitness. To attract a particularly demanding clientele, the Majestic has opted for innovation and excellence by teaming up with Sisley, a real flagship brand in French cosmetology. Founded in the 1970's by Hubert d’Ornano, this French company built its reputation on what was a pioneering concept in its time : the scientific use of natural plant extracts and essential oils in its cosmetics. More topical than ever before, this alliance between nature and human expertise has made Sisley one of the world leaders in top-notch cosmetic treatments.

Design for "service design"

If the extension of the Majestic Barrière has provided the chance to design and decorate brand new premises, it has also served as an ideal opportunity to review the protocols which guide the hotel's staff on a daily basis, and thus strengthen everything that contributes to its know-how and the quality of its services – already distinguished by ISO 9001 certification.

Thus, in October 2009, as part of the "Service Design Workshops", 13 study groups focused on all the various situations that may confront the hotel teams. From the most banal to the most outlandish, all kinds of scenarios were imagined, explored and studied, to guarantee exceptional service for each and every guest.

Warmth, refinement, personalisation, for irreproachable hospitality… On the eve of the inauguration of its new wing, the Majestic remains true to its greatest asset : the expertise and devotion of those who work each day towards the well-being of its privileged clientele.

N.B. : The 2010 press file is now available on-line or on a USB key. Don't hesitate to request a copy.

Among the contents : what's new for 2010, interviews of the main protagonists who have worked on the extension, important dates and anecdotes which haave marked the life of the hotel over the past 80 years…
