Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong is offering diners a host of special culinary experiences and tempting offers throughout the spring season.

The Michelin two-star Shang Palace restaurant presents the “Mini Buddha Jumps Over The Wall” set menu, which is available from 1 April to 31 July 2010 for lunch and dinner. Priced at HK$6,388 per table of 12 people, the set menu features Mini Buddha Jumps Over The Wall; Steamed Fresh Giant Pearl Garoupa; Chilled Diced Shrimp with Fresh Fruit in Mayonnaise and Guava Juice; Roasted Whole Suckling Pig; Baked Fresh Salted Chicken; Braised Fresh Mushrooms and Garden Greens with Yunnan Ham; Goose Liver Wonton Noodles in Soup; Braised Fried Rice with Diced Chicken and Dried Octopus in Abalone Sauce; Sweetened Red Bean Cream with Glutinous Dumplings; and Steamed Longevity Buns. The menu also includes 24 soft drinks, orange juice or local beer and one bottle of Syrah, M. Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Belleruche, France. Also known as a tonic, Mini Buddha Jumps Over The Wall is made from only the best ingredients, such as shark’s fin, abalone, dried scallops, sea cucumber, fish maw, bamboo fungus, Yunnan ham, chicken and Chinese herbs. Lavishly decorated in auspicious red and gold with traditional motifs imported from China, Shang Palace offers a range of dim sum, set lunches and à la carte menus for lunch from noon to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. This April, guests at Nadaman can savour the taste of spring with delicacies featuring Sansai, or “mountain vegetables”, that grow wild on the mountains of Japan and Sakura Ebi (shrimp). Using Sansai and fresh or dried Sakura Ebi, the chefs at Nadaman will prepare dishes using various methods, such as deep-frying, tempura and sashimi. Located on lower level two, Nadaman’s interior incorporates strong Japanese flavours with a contemporary twist. Combining a range of Japanese dining experiences within one restaurant, the restaurant’s main dining area includes a sushi bar, double teppanyaki grills and a private teppanyaki room. The teppanyaki room, seating up to 16, is also known as the T room due to its long T-shaped table with a teppanyaki grill at the end and features a cooking theatre with a dedicated chef. From 3 to 30 April 2010, Chef Vittorio Lucariello of Angelini will highlight white asparagus and morel mushrooms in his cuisine. Priced at HK$980 per person, the five-course set dinner menu features White Asparagus and Morel Mushrooms with Ragusano Cheese and Poached Italian Egg Yolk; Home-made Open Ravioli with White Asparagus, Morel Mushrooms, Red Sardinian Shrimp and Anchovy-Herb Sauce; Seared Turbot with Arnad Lardo, Morel Mushrooms and White Asparagus Purée; Roasted Lamb Rump with Polenta, Morel Mushrooms and White Asparagus Puttanesca Sauce; and White Asparagus Pastiera Tart with Streusel and Buttermilk Gelato. Situated on the mezzanine floor with panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Island skyline, Angelini combines a comfortable and inviting ambience with stylish, contemporary décor. For sweet indulgence, guests can relish the Pear Tart, made with Almond Filling, Poached Red Wine Pears and Poached Ginger Pears from Déli Kool. The Pear Tart is priced at HK$225 for 1.5 lbs. In addition, guests can also indulge in Caramel Custards available in various flavours, including green tea, coffee, strawberry, mango, passionfruit and chocolate, for HK$36 each. An upscale delicatessen, Déli Kool offers a wide selection of fresh breads, pastries and desserts, and an array of made-to-order gourmet items.
