In support of Earth Hour, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong will set drinks aflame, feature organic dishes and switch off or dim lights in certain areas on 27 March 2010. The lights at the foyer and guest corridors will be dimmed at 8 p.m. for one hour to help raise awareness on climate change issues and create a sustainable low carbon future.

Joining the global climate initiative, the hotel’s restaurants will implement minimum lighting and special menus and beverages. At Angelini, guests can savour organic dishes creatively prepared by Chef Vittorio, complemented with wines from Fontanafredda, known as one of Italy’s best and most eco-friendly wine producers, from 24 March to 30 June 2010. Fontanafredda’s bio-natural reserve produces clean wines with zero usage of chemical weedkillers and fertilisers, and the wines are bottled in 85 per cent recycled glass bottles. Priced at HK$780 per person, the five-course menu features Steamed Organic Italian Egg with Salad of Spring Vegetables and Veraci Clams Vinaigrette; Home made Organic Flour Tagliatelle with Organic Sea Urchin, Red Onion and Spicy Cherry Peppers; Organic Salmon Trout Confit with Red Bell Peppers and a medley of Oranges; Organic Tuscan Pork Tenderloin with Baked Eggplant and Parmigiano Reggiano Sauce; and Organic Whole Wheat Apple Compote Mini Cake with Pumpkin Seed Gelato.
