Zendai Art Hotel opening July 2010
Zendai Art Hotel is a luxury 5-star hotel opening in Shanghai in July. Developed by the Zendai Group, the hotel is a showcase for Chinese art. The building itself was designed by Arata Isozaki, designer of the Barcelona Olympic Stadium, and interiors by KCA International, of Burj al Arab fame.
The 313 rooms and suites occupy the first floors of a dedicated hotel tower in the Himalayas Centre complex – an iconic development in Shanghai directly opposite the city’s new International Exhibition Centre. Facilities include a fitness club and pool with luxurious sauna and relaxation rooms as well as Mezzanine One an innovative dining facility incorporating Italian antipasto, steak house, wine bar, sushi bar and teppanyaki tables. In addition the hotel’s Shanghai Art Restaurant will serve local specialties.
Guests are welcomed by an impressive art installation in the hotel’s lobby called “Heaven & Chi” that will illuminate the 260 square metre ceiling from dawn to dusk with a changing skyscape of clouds, sun and moon.
Ideally located close to the Lujiazui Financial District in Pudong, directly opposite the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre and with easy reach of Century Park, Zendai Art Hotel is close to both of Shanghai’s airports: Pudong International Airport 23 km away, and Hongqiao Airport, 22 km away. The hotel is within walking distance of the Maglev station, which offers 7 min transfers directly to the Pudong airport, and direct access to metro line 7 through the basement of the Himalayas Centre, only five-stops away from the World Expo site.
