GHM promotes Akira Moreno to Director of Pre-Opening Services

GHM, a global leader in the hospitality industry renowned for its exclusive and stylish hotels and resorts worldwide, has announced the promotion of Mr. Akira Moreno to Director of Pre-Opening Services.

Now based at the group’s headquarters in Singapore, Mr. Moreno was formerly General Manager of The Andaman, Langkawi, when it was under GHM management. Mr. Moreno was invited to join the GHM team in 2006, after an extensive career in international hospitality with The Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and The St. Regis brands.

Fluent in English, Spanish and French, with extensive management experience in USA, Malaysia, Canada, India and the Caribbean, Mr. Moreno brings global knowledge to the table as Director of Pre- Opening Services. Under this new role, Mr Moreno is assisting the openings of all new GHM properties including overseeing human resources and recruitment, sales, marketing and PR, basic operations, and finance.

Hans Jenni, Director and President of GHM said, “Akira’s appointment is part of our strategy to ensure new properties obtain the best possible launch under GHM’s prestigious collection as we expand over coming years. Akira has a fantastic insight into the needs of hotels and their clientele, whilst being familiar with the high criteria that GHM properties expect and achieve, having worked with GHM since 2006.”

Commenting on his new corporate role, Akira Moreno said, “As Director of Pre-Opening Services I am looking forward to working closely with the new hotel teams to ensure their opening success. Having worked within GHM for nearly four years, I am proud to represent the brand by helping create a fruitful future for our new partners.”

Of Canadian nationality, Akira attended the University of British Columbia, Vancouver where he majored in Political Science and subsequently graduated in International Hospitality Management at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland and more recently completed the General Managers Program at Cornell University. His drive and proficiency has been acknowledged through career stints at the Hotel Du Rhone in Switzerland, The Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki, Hawaii and the Raleigh, South Beach, Miami before joining GHM in 2006.
